Jealousy

The last month leading up to the end of the school year was more upsetting than Taehyung imagined it to be. He knew that giving up teaching for a couple of years was going to be hard, but knowing he was going to return to it at some point was enough to keep him feeling good about the decision. But as he sees how happy his class is and looks back on all the progress they've been able to make over the year thanks to him it was definitely tough to leave it all behind.

"I have something to tell you," Jimin says during lunch one day, another thing Taehyung was going to miss during his teaching break.

"Please tell me it's good news, I don't think my emotions can handle bad news at this point."

"Oh it is good news, but please don't hate me for not telling you earlier. I didn't want to steal your thunder since you had the surrogacy thing starting up and your wedding and honeymoon and everything, so remember that's why I stayed quiet."

Taehyung cocks an eyebrow in interest, wondering what Jimin could've possibly been keeping from him over the past months. "What is it?"

"Well, when you adopted Asami, Hobi and I could see how happy it made you and it got us thinking about bringing children of our own in. So we started to look into it and we were put on the waiting list up until a few months ago when we got a phone call about a pregnant woman who won't be able to take care of the baby once it's born..." Jimin starts to explain.

"So you're having a baby?!"

"Well obviously I'm not actually having the baby, but we've signed all the paperwork to bring the baby home once it's born."

Taehyung squeals so loud he's pretty sure the entire playground full of children outside can hear him, he doesn't even waste a second before he's pulling his best friend in for a tight hug. "When's the baby due?! Oh my God, Chim, we can have play dates and our children can go into school together and maybe even get married in the future!"

"Our babies are due around the same time which is why I wanted to tell you now, I've spoken to Yoongi and I'll be taking some time off from teaching as well so we can help each other out with the 'stay at home parent' kind of thing." Jimin laughs.

"This is the best thing ever, I think I'm going to cry."

"Please don't cry, you'll make me cry."

"Can we dress our babies in matching babygrows?!"

Jimin pulls away from the hug to glare at Taehyung weirdly, trying to work out if he was really serious or not.

"Oh come on, it'll be cute," Taehyung tries to convince him, obviously very serious about the idea.

"You really want to be THAT kind of best friends?"

"Without a doubt."

"Maybe on special occasions, they can both be pumpkins for Halloween or something."

"Boring."

The both of them laugh, happy about the turn events. They can't wait to have cute play dates and be just like the typical suburban moms going out for coffee with their babies. Sharing the experience together will definitely be just like something they've always dreamed of.

Taehyung really didn't know what to do with himself after school was finally over, Jungkook still working through the weekdays and Asami being at her summer clubs was giving him way more time to himself than he ever wanted to have in his life. It reminded him of his life before he found a family, silence surrounding him as he tries to distract himself from the loneliness with half decent Kdramas. But at least he now had Yeontan, the little fluff ball of a dog giving him at least the slightest bit of company in his dull days.
