It was the day before Asami's seventh birthday, and with Jungkook finally on parental leave from work the couple were definitely excitedly planning for it. The actual birthday party wasn't happening until the weekend but they were still determined to make the day perfect for her, that's why they found themselves late at night in the kitchen attempting to make a birthday cake.
"We should've just bought one, this is way too hard," Jungkook complains as he tries to make the icing, frowning when he sees the consistency wasn't getting any thicker no matter how much he stirred.
"Stop complaining, a homemade cake is much more special. It might not look as good but it's made with love." Taehyung smiles widely before spooning some more icing sugar into the bowl to fix the icing Jungkook was still trying to stir. "Plus I'm a baking genius, this cake is going to be the bomb."
"'The bomb'? Do people still say that?"
"Well I just did, so yes they do."
Jungkook shakes his head with a laugh, looking back at the icing on to now find it clumping together. He doesn't know how he's messing it up, the icing was the easiest part of this whole process and he still seems to be getting it wrong. Taehyung notices the struggling look on his husband's face and takes pity on him, nudging him out of the way so he could fix the icing himself.
"Why don't you get Asami's presents out of the study and put them in the living room?"
"Are you trying to get me out of the way?" Jungkook raises an eyebrow.
"Of course not!" Taehyung exclaims, his voice a little too high to be believable. Jungkook stares back at him knowingly and he sighs before speaking again. "Okay, maybe I am, but it's nothing personal! You're just more of a cook than a baker, and that's fine."
"I thought I was doing quite well, my icing mixing skills are on point."
Taehyung giggles at the sarcasm before sweetly kissing Jungkook on the cheek, "I can't cook to save my life and you can't bake, we complete each other."
"Since when did you get so cheesy?" Jungkook teases with a smirk.
"Shut up and go get the presents, and make sure you arrange them nicely."
Jungkook laughs before complying, heading out of the kitchen to retrieve the presents from the study. They had definitely gone overboard with the number of presents this year, knowing that the birth of their new child was definitely going to happen soon made them feel as if they had to spoil Asami more so she doesn't feel as if she doesn't matter anymore. Spreading their love between two children is something they will have to adapt to, they knew they couldn't continue to spoil their first child because they feel guilty about bringing a second one into the mix.
But for now, they will allow themselves to give their daughter a little more attention for her birthday and make sure that the day was as perfect as possible.
Knocks are sounded on Jungkook and Taehyung's bedroom day way too early the next morning, both of them groaning when they see the clock displaying only six am. They knew Asami would be excited for her birthday but they were hoping she wouldn't wake up until at least eight, so much for that dream.
"Come in, pancake," Jungkook calls out in a rough still-half-asleep voice.
Taehyung rolls over with a groan, not intending to wake up just yet until he hears a faint squeal and a child jumping on him not even a second later.
"Daddy stop sleeping, it's my birthday!" Asami giggles as she pokes at Taehyung's face in an attempt to make him open his eyes.
"Daddy's sleepy."
