Asami had been by the window ever since she had finished breakfast that morning, she knew her dads were finally coming home and she didn't want to miss the second they arrive. It really had been the longest week of her life, and the late night phone calls to say goodnight to them both wasn't a good enough alternative to the goodnight kisses and the stories they tell her.
"Sweetie, come and have some lunch." Her grandmother says as she walks back into the living room, determined to get the little girl away from the window.
But Asami had a good set up, she dragged the beanbag from her bedroom down the stairs and over to the living room window for her to sit on, she was using the windowsill as a surface to put the finishing touches to her 'welcome home' drawing and she had Yeontan asleep peacefully in her lap. Lunch could wait, she definitely wasn't moving.
"You know your daddys won't be happy if they hear you haven't eaten your lunch."
"Can't I just eat it here? Tanie is asleep and I don't wanna wake him up!" Asami whines. Her voice wakes up Yeontan but she decides to ignore that fact for the sake of her argument, she just prays her grandmother didn't notice.
Mrs. Jeon sighs before going to retrieve the sandwich from the kitchen table, she knows she shouldn't be so weak for her granddaughter but she also knows she won't win this fight. Asami was just as stubborn as Jungkook is, and from many years of experience, she knows neither of them gives in easily. "Just don't tell either of your dads about this, they'll only be disappointed in me," she says as she places the plate in front of the grinning child.
"I can keep a secret, Grannie. You can trust me!"
"You're a little menace, just like your dad was at this age." Mrs. Jeon says with a laugh, brushing the long hair off of Asami's face so it wouldn't get in the way of her eating.
Asami only giggles before getting stuck into her food, plucking little bits of ham out of her sandwich and secretly feeding it to Yeontan as she stares out of the window hoping that her dads would come home soon.
"I've been thinking," Taehyung says quietly as they sit in the back of the taxi on their way back home from the airport, both completely exhausted from the flight.
"About?" Jungkook questions with a slight yawn.
"I think I want to take a break from work when our baby is born. I don't like the thought of leaving our child with a babysitter whilst we both work, I'd rather be at home with them."
"I think that's great," Jungkook turns to Taehyung with a smile. "How long are you thinking about taking off?"
"Couple of years, maybe? Just until they're old enough to go to preschool, I'd feel okay with leaving them there for the day since there's one right next to the school. I'll talk to Yoongi about it on Monday, I just hope he'll let me come back to my job once I'm able to." Taehyung knows that Yoongi would allow him to come back when he's ready, but he really doesn't want to get his hopes up just in case.
Jungkook agrees, he likes the thought of Taehyung being home to take care of their child, he doesn't think he would ever be able to trust a babysitter with them anyway. He just hopes it all won't be too much for him, taking care of a baby by yourself isn't the easiest task in the world. "You sure you'll be able to manage alone? I could try and cut down my work hours-"
"Kookie, I'll manage. We'll need the money anyway so you can't do that, plus you love your job."
"I know, but you know how much I worry about you."
"Just trust I'll be fine, and if I need any help you know how much Jin has been offering his services." Taehyung laughs when he thinks about how excited Jin was for the new arrival, almost as excited as the couple were themselves.
