Two months later

I fixed the straps to my red, knee-length silk dress and stepped into my clear lace up low-heels.  After adjusting the straps up my ankle, I opened my jewelry box to pull out my golden butterfly bracelet and matching earrings.

Lee braided the top of my head into 4 braids, I simply moisturized the rest of my curls and allowed them to fall freely over my shoulders.

Today is Lee's graduation and I couldn't be more excited.  Lee had to leave early to get dressed with Bentley and Elon, but I gave him a little morning motivation, just to show him how proud I was.

I shook the dirty thoughts out of my head and smiled as I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror.

A lot has happened over the past two months.

I finally finished all of my necessary health and tattooing classes, so I have my license now.  I can tattoo more advanced clientele and save up to buy my own shop one day.

Lee was approved for a promotion to the head of his department 3 months after graduation.  It's more work than Lee has ever had at the lab, but he says it'll be worth it.  If he works hard enough, he'll be able to take Healani's place when she retires in a few years.

Daya's mother, Ms.Isabel, reached out to Daya when Max hit his one month mark.  Isabel became more receptive of the baby once she learned that Elon would be able to take good care of Daya and Max.  Daya doesn't know if she's going to let her back in yet, she's still upset that Isabel made her go through so much without her.

The following weeks after we learned that Elon is Max's father, Vaughn left for New Zealand with Mr.Alderidge for foreign business.  From the looks of it, Vaughn won't be back in Pennsylvania, or the states, for a very long time.

Elon doesn't seem too torn up about it.  After all, he was too busy preparing to graduate and being an amazing father to Max.  Daya isn't alone in this at all, Elon has Max whenever he can and he's always there when she needs his help.

Some people are just meant to be parents and Elon is one of those people.

I lined my bare, moisturized lips with brown lip liner and blended it a bit before covering it all with clear lip gloss.

I picked up my phone and turned off my alarm before it could even ring, then stuffed it into my purse.

"Right on time," I whispered to myself with contentment.

I grabbed my bag, filled with my wallet, phone, charger, lip gloss, and our tickets.

Before Lennox could knock on the door, I opened it.

I am on a roll today.

I smiled at the sight of my beautiful best friend and happily sighed.  Lennox wore her natural hair into a high-pony of curls.   Lennox had on a navy blue skirt and matching blazer with a cotton white top under it, regardless of the formal outfit, she wore her white Nike Air Forces with it.

Lennox hates dressing up and wearing heels, or any shoes that aren't sneakers for the matter.

"You look beautiful," we complimented in unison, then laughed afterwards.

"Do you have the tickets, Zo?"

"Yes ma'am," I grabbed my keys from the hook and closed the locked door behind me.

"Good, let's go."

Lennox and I arrived to find my mom, dad, Daya, and Max waiting for us outside of the stadium.  Before we could finish all of our greetings, Bentley's parents, Azalea and Demonte, were approaching us with Healani by their side.
