"I'm so serious, I want you to do it." I raised my eyebrows at Lee and closed my sketchbook.
"Where would you want it?"
"My wrist, is that a good spot?"
"It depends on your pain tolerance, but I'd say so. If you're serious, send me a picture and I'll tatt you when you come home."
"Bet." Lee paused his screen and I immediately got a message from him.
I admired the picture and smiled.
"This is beautiful, Lee, I'd love to do it." Lee sent a picture of a small, shaded wave with a date below the crest of it. I can easily tell that it's going to be for Healani, she loves the water in Honolulu, the raging waves are her favorite, and I know he plans to substitute the date with the day she was born.
I don't see anything wrong with getting a tattoo for fun, art is art, but I prefer to create meaningful tattoos.
"Thank you, mama."
Lee and I FaceTime every chance we get, thankfully, we're still in the same timezone. Right now, I'm on break and Lee's praising my work as he usually does, but this time, he brought up the idea of me doing his first tattoo.
"Is this the only tattoo you want?"
"For now, yeah. But in the future I wanna get our kid's first and middle name on my upper arm." I smiled and looked down, Lee laughed at my nervousness and continued.
Lee hasn't let up on the idea of our future or our "little baby."
"What do you think about matching tattoos?" I looked up at him and coughed.
"In a few years from now," Lee corrected and I laughed, telling him he could proceed, "Nothing big or stupid, but something like the sun and the moon, on some ying-yang shit."
"Oh, that doesn't sound bad. I like it, as long as I get the sun."
"I wanted the moon anyway." I looked down at my watch and groaned.
"Your break is almost over." Lee picked up his phone and walked to the bathroom of his hotel room, turning the soft shower on.
"Yeah, but I don't wanna hang up on you."
"I don't either, but I'm not letting you get in trouble. Can I call you tonight?"
Even though we're usually incredibly tired during night calls and end up falling asleep on each other, hearing his voice before going to bed eases me.
"Please." I sighed and leaned on the black table.
"Okay, I'll see you, baby. I love you."
"I love you too." Lee winked at me and ended the call, I stood up and pouted a little.
I really miss Lee. I don't know how people in long-distance relationships do it.
Vyn's stern voice floated through the shop, I could hear her telling someone to go. I looked up then nosily crept down the long hallway from the break room and stopped at the reception desk.
Oh, God.
"Sir, you need to go." Vyn pointed to the door and stopped once she saw me.
"Ryan?" I stepped into the room and folded my arms across my chest.
"My chocolate queen! Can you please tell your boss I'm allowed to-"
"Ryan, you need to go." I cut him off before he could continue or come any closer to me.
