Akasuki pushed through the doors of the gym with a grin holding up a bag of desserts,
“sorry I’m late, I brought food!”
In an instant the boys were crowding around her, Sō snatching the bag out of her hand loosely throwing his arm around her,
“the princess brings us treasures!”
Has he hit his head or something? She slipped from under him with a laugh heading towards Kenma sat on the bench like usual catching his eye, lifting her hand to give a wave, she’d been looking forward to seeing him all day.
“Hey Suki,” Kuroo called, oh no, Akasuki glanced over her shoulder towards Kuroo with a nod of acknowledgment, “I need to speak with you.”
Speak to her? He didn’t find out, did he? She nodded briefly glancing at Kenma worryingly before joining Kuroo’s side,
“what’s up?”
“So,” he lowered his voice turning his back to the hall so none of the boys could read his lips, “we have a new recruit,” a new recruit wow, “and I was wondering if you could meet them, they should be here soon, so, really, um,”
“Of course,” Akasuki spoke with a smile, “no need to explain yourself.”
Kuroo grinned squeezing her shoulder,
“knew I could count on you,” leaving her to re-join the boys on the court.
Count on her, the guilt sinking through her skin, she felt genuine sadness for betraying Kuroo in the terms of relationships. She took a deep breath, but if it meant, she glanced to Kenma engaged in his game, she’s able to be completely happy with him, she smiled widely, it was worth it. She jogged over, sliding beside him,
“maybe you should join them,”
Kenma shrugged, his fingers moving on the screen as he played, he may be her Kenma now but she was happy he’s staying true to his true colours. She reached over to wrap her fingers over his,
“maybe I can help you with this level.”
His eyes lifted to meet hers, squinting loosely before glancing out to the court whispering,
“what if,”
“They’ve never noticed before,” Akasuki shrugged with a smirk, “are you scared I’ll beat the game before you can?”
Kenma scoffed returning his gaze to the game,
“you could never.”
“Right,” Akasuki whispered glancing to his face taking in the high level of concentration, he’s, “so cute.”
His face flushed pink as he tried to play off the fact, he didn’t hear her words, but that made her want to shower him with further compliments. Time went by until Kuroo called over to Akasuki,
“mind grabbing some water?”
Water, but they had just gotten water? Oh, she leapt up, nodding rapidly, water must be a secret code for new boy.
“I’ll be back,” she whispered ruffling Kenma’s hair.
He nodded watching Akasuki jog out of the gym. This is gonna be interesting, who is this guy gonna be? She made her way through the courtyard, a distant figure coming into her sight, is that him? She wandered closer squinting as the figure grew closer, the details becoming clearer the closer she got, wait, no way, this, this can’t be real. She stood behind the figure, her mouth dropping open as she looked up at the tall lanky boy,
“holy shit.”
The figure tensed up, slowly turning to face her, their mouth dropping open,
“holy shit seconded.”
“Lev?” Akasuki exclaimed, excitement bleeding into her veins as she gazed up at the pale skinned, emerald cat like eyes and silver locked boy before her, “I, I am lost for words.”
Leve grinned stupidly bearing his sparkling teeth,
“instead of words why not greet me with a hug?”
“Duh!” Akasuki squealed throwing her arms around his chest, Lev returning the hug along with ruffling her hair, “how long has it been?” she mumbled against his shirt.
Lev shrugged,
“god, I don’t know but,” he pulled away holding her shoulders, “you have not grown one bit.”
Akasuki pushed him back with a laugh,
“look at you! You’re a giant!”
With a clear look at him, memories were brought back of their past time together the pair had shared, it brought happiness and sorrow with it, but through to the end, they have and still will be, best friends. He held up his arms tensing them, posing before her. He’s so stupid, Akasuki laughed grabbing his arm,
“I have a job to do, so enough playing about,” Lev whined, Akasuki shaking her head as she led him towards the gym, “promise me you’ll behave, okay?”
Lev sighed draping his arm over her shoulder,
“for you,” he ruffled her hair, “I will.”
God, she hated the fact he was younger than her but he treated her like a kid still. They reached the hall, Akasuki turning to Lev's puppy dog expression. She was especially excited to introduce Lev to one particular person,
“ready?”
He pouted momentarily,
“I should make an entrance, hm” he thought for a second before suddenly grinning, “I have an idea.”
An idea? Within a second, Lev had lifted Akasuki from the ground into a bridal carry, what is he doing? She couldn’t help but laugh at his actions, she felt like a kid again,
“I’m ready.”
He’s still as childish as ever. She grabbed the door pulling it open as Lev carried her in calling out,
“it is I, Lev Haiba!”
Holy shit, Akasuki couldn’t contain her laughter, his stupidity and humour are overwhelming. The boys were stunned at Lev's yelling, Akasuki didn’t blame them, Lev had a wild personality and it only got wilder each day.
“Alright boys!” Akasuki called catching Kuroo's curious gaze, she patted Lev's shoulder, his arms lowering so she could drop to the ground, “we have a new recruit, play nice!”
She began to introduce the other first years, along with the second years before dragging him over to the third years,
“you obviously know Kuroo,” Akasuki explained, “and then Kai,” she then gestured to Yaku, Lev’s eyes narrowing as he gazed at him, “and Yaku.”
Let’s see how he reacts. Yaku is exactly his type. Lev leaned forward,
“god, you’re pretty short.”
Holy shit, did he, Yaku’s face grew red, actually just say that? Akasuki could sense the anger billowing over Yaku, this isn’t going to be good. Akasuki put her arm in front of Lev clearing her throat, let’s defuse this now,
“he’s not the smartest,” she glanced to Kuroo, “but still, he’s a good player”, and boyfriend material.
Yet, she shouldn’t assume his sexuality.
“Do you,” Yaku glanced Lev up and down, “this guy?”
Know, is just the beginning, she went to speak but Lev interrupted her once more, throwing his arm around her,
“what do you mean? She’s my best friend!”
Lev, she glanced over to Kenma, his eyes fixed on her, his knuckles growing white as he gripped his game. This needed to stop, she slipped out from underneath him,
“yes, so don’t push it or I’ll leave this time.”
She still hadn’t gotten over Lev randomly leaving. He pouted holding his chest,
“ouch.”
Akasuki shook her head moving towards Kenma, he averted his gaze back to the game, he’s mad, she could feel it. She slipped beside him,
“hey.”
He hummed in reply.
“Kenma,” she whispered, glancing up to ensure no one was looking before moving into him pressing her lips against his cheek, “speak to me.”
His fingers stopped moving as he lifted his head to look at her, is he mad?
“Who is he?” Kenma asked quietly, was he jealous?
He wasn’t jealous when she was around the others, but maybe she pushed it too far.
“He’s an old friend, we used to be close when we were younger, but he moved away,” Akasuki explained slowly.
“He’s only a friend?” Kenma repeated.
Akasuki nodded, always and forever, glancing over to Lev, first off,
“we aren’t each other's types,” she chuckled loosely turning back to a confused Kenma, “actually it’s not my place, but I can promise you,” she placed her hand on top of his, “you’re the only one for me.”
Kenma slowly nodded,
“I trust you,” returning to his game.
She hoped so, she didn’t know why he may feel this way about her with others but she could only imagine the way she felt thinking of him with other girls. Unnecessary heat spread through her chest, anger leaking into her body, it wasn’t a pleasant for her.
