Her eyes stared blankly at the grey baron wall ahead of her, the blinks of her eyes becoming the only entertainment.
"You know," a sigh entered the room, Damien's rugged figure hunching on the bed in front of her, "I thought, a girl like you," he glanced down at her lifting the glass of foreign liquid to his lips shrugging, "would be excited about being in my bed."
Her eyes closed, opening shortly after, silence filling the room. His fingers tightened around the glass, the fuse now lit,
"I leave you for how long, and you're already lifeless," he tattered closing his eyes, a smirk forming on his lips, "I guess they really did go to town on you," he paused opening his eyes briefly, "especially that weird kid, the one with," he rustled his hair, "fucked up, you know the one."
Her blinking slowed further, her ears blurring his words each time he spoke. The fuse was close to blowing as Damien snapped his head to her, face red and knuckles white,
"are you fucking dumb? I do everything for you! I looked after you! I protected you!" his glass slipped from his fingers shattering against the floor, as he grabbed her body with a violent shake, "what more do you want from me!"
Want? Akasuki slowly closed her eyes lifting her hand to meet his cheek softly caressing it, she's never thanked him for anything he did, in the past she knew he was doing the best for her, she supposed he was repeating the past,
"thank you, really."
She couldn't remember what she wanted from Damien, even at the start. It's always been a constant war for his attention. And once she got it, there was nothing she hated more. Admittedly the first time, she was able to divide the blame into specific piles but now, now the blame was piling up before her. This was her fault, if she hadn't ran into Kuroo, if she hadn't joined the team, if she hadn't, done anything, things would have been completely different. Damien gritted his teeth, his finger nails digging into her shoulders. Akasuki weakly smiled running her fingers up into his hair,
"what do you want Damien?"
Furrowing his brows Damien lowered his fore head against hers with a soft impact, hot breath layering her chin,
"get some rest."
She nodded slowly lowering her hand from his hair closing her eyes as he pulled away. It's the way it's always been, she'll never know what he wants, not even the slightest hint or trail. She's left in the dust, just like last time.
-Hangover-
Damien's hands trailed down her fore arm, his fingers rubbing in tiny circular motion upon her palm,
"I enjoyed our sleepover."
She hummed in disapproval, is that what he called it? Her eyes were set on the blank paper before her, the words blurring into nothingness. Her train of thought lost somewhere in the station of regrets docked at the platform of fuck ups. Distant vibrations causing Damien to pull back in a huff, grunting as he read messages from his phone,
"my favourite thing about you is," he glanced up at her with a teasing smirk, "you still keep your passwords in your notes," turning back to his phone.
A useful habit turned against her, there was nothing she could do about it. Damien's smirk switched to a cheeky smile as he began to speak,
"I can't help but be surprised at how far you'd go for them, or," he licked his lips at her, "him."
Right, because Damien knew her for being the girl who would do anything for him but now, everything is for Kenma. There was a soft cough from the door way, Akasuki competing against the drowsiness as she lifted her head to look towards them.
"Suki," Sō called out, his bright grin overwhelming her eyes, why is he here?
" Sō," Akasuki's murmured, the first words of the day hanging heavy off her tongue.
His eyes grew at the slight movement of her lips, similarly to the look he gave upon a successful spike. Was she really the human equivalent to him? Sō went to step into the room, all Akasuki could do was shake her head, she didn’t want him anywhere near Damien. However, Damien was always one step ahead no matter what. He slyly rose from his seat, swaggering towards So with a devilish gaze upon his face. This didn't look good. She couldn't see Damien's face as he spoke, but she could see the joy being sucked from So's smile, what is he saying? Their eyes simultaneously moved set in Akasuki, what, the colour draining from Sō's face, all she could do was silently beg for him to leave, despite the pain spreading through her chest at the sight of his dismissal. Deep down, she hated that look on his face but it was better this was, this small-time suffering would be worth it in the long run. So abruptly nodded stepping back into the hallway, disappearing into the waves of students. Before Damien could even stroll back to his seat, Akasuki's feral curiosity kicked in,
"what was it?"
"None of your business," Damien teased taking his seat.
Right, Akasuki's body sunk into the desk, none of her business.
"Oh," Damien erupted suddenly rummaging in his bag, "I got something for you," got something?
He pulled something from his bag, placing it before her face on the table, her eyes lazily gazing over it. It's a,
"resignation paper, for you," Damien grinned, his eyes flaming with pride.
Resignation, the word hit Akasuki's ears like a train announcement, loud, unclear starting an initial confusion from Akasuki,
"what?"
It was like music to his ears, the utter confusion upon her face could've fed his hunger for months,
"you heard me, resignation, you're quitting the club."
Kenma's words echoed through her mind 'stay with the team', 'they really like you', ‘need someone like you', were his words, words to stick by? She's never doubted him before, she's never broken a promise to him either. Was now the time to start?
"It's not like you're actually important to them," Damien explained confidently, "it's a stupid club, they can easily replace you."
Stupid club, easily replace, not important. The words were thorns in Akasuki's skin, they weren't new to her but she had spent months removing the thorns individually with care yet they returned brand new and sharply to their usual spot.
"So," Damien leaned closer to her, his nose practically touching hers, the smell of his peppermint chewing gum flooding from his lips, "we're going later, and I'll be there," he winked with a cheeky smile, "to make sure it gets done."
Akasuki wasn't sure if she was actually living or dreaming right now, it was as if her consciousness had left her body, betraying the last puddle of confidence she had in herself. Her promise to Kenma. She was a hundred percent convinced she could uphold that but now, now she was slowly breaking it like a crumbling biscuit between her fingers. It's becoming more than a mess.
