This would be the first time Akasuki would attend practice since splitting up with Kenma, but she would rather die than break his promises. She wrapped her hand around the handle, all she had to do was open it, it was that simple, just open it.
"Hey!" a voice erupted behind her causing her to jump out of her skin.
Shit, she glanced over her should up at Tora who was grinning widely.
"Are you going to open the door or?" He jokingly asked.
"Right, the door," Akasuki murmured turning back to it.
Open the door. Just open the door. She can't. Tora's hand wrapped around hers,
"I'll help you," pulling it open slowly.
She stared into the hall, screenshots replaying in her mind of the times her and Kenma met rapidly developing their friendship into a relationship. She couldn't do it. She stepped back bumping into Tora, looking up at him, a wide smile still on his face,
"you're acting like it's your first time being here."
First time. Maybe she should act like it was her first time being here, pretend like nothing ever really happened. She chuckled weakly,
"right, sorry," she stepped into the hall progressing towards the court, Tora following.
Her feet went to take her towards the bench where Kenma was sat head in his game, wait, she stopped in her tracks, she can't do that anymore, it's not right, she has to return back to her original times in the gym.
"Hey Suki!" Lev called, "you should really see my spike! It's improved!"
Kenma lifted his head to meet her gaze, a smile spreading on his face. Ha, her lips returned the smile, tears brimming in her eyes, he actual did it. She didn't realise how much it would hurt to see his smile.
"Suki!" Lev repeatedly called.
She took a deep breath turning to the court,
"your spike, right? Come on, show me then."
She had to pretend like nothing's happened. Practice soon ended, Akasuki handing out the water bottles to each member, Kenma last, his fingers brushing hers as he took the bottle, her eyes lifted go his face, he smiled. It's gonna hurt more and more each time. She smiled back, letting go as she turned to Kuroo who had started to speak,
"so, the tournament coming up, you'll be able to make it right?"
"Of course," Akasuki grinned, "I wouldn't miss it for the world.
"Good," Kuroo grinned, "come on guys, class starts soon!"
The team hurried up racing to the changing rooms, everyone re-joining back outside.
"You look really pretty today Suki," Sō suddenly remarked draping his arm over her shoulder.
Pretty? She scoffed shaking her head, despite her life practically crumbling under her feet, Sō's comments had the ability to reduce the impact ever so slightly,
"thank you."
"I happen to think you look okay, I mean," Tora stuttered, "beautiful, I meant beautiful."
A laugh slipped from her lips, Kenma lifting his head to look at her with an agreeable smile, Akasuki's cheeks blushing as she spoke,
"good save," Kenma continued to smile to himself as he looked back down at his game.
