Her eyes fluttered open to the crowded courtyard, crowds and crowds surrounding Akasuki as she stepped forward into an empty circle containing the dreaded nemesis, hands on his hips, protruding teeth with crimson eyes burning into her soul. What's going on? A hand grabbed Akasuki's shoulder pulling her back, stumbling over her own feet as Kenma appeared in front of her, lips moving yet no sound left them, what is he saying? Kenma stepped forward into the guy's personal space, jabbing his finger into his chest, why is he doing that? She tried to move her body forward to grab Kenma but she couldn't move, why couldn't she move? She tried to shout at Kenma to stop, to leave, but he didn't hear her because the words weren't ever leaving her mouth. The pair engaged with one another, their bodies moving aggressively as Akasuki was pushed into the crowd, her sight becoming covered, trying to grab random shoulders in attempt to pull herself up, her gaze catching flickers of flying fists. She called out for Kenma begging for him to be released, when suddenly a pair of hands grabbed her shirt holding her up to their face, his eyes glowing bright as his mouth curved into a murderous smile, to
"this is your fault," he let go of her shirt dropping her back into crowd, Akasuki fell embracing for the impact of concrete but it never came.
Instead, she fell into darkness, falling further and further, and further, the abyss taking her body. Her eyes shot open, chest rising rapidly as she drew in short sharp breathes of air, what was that? She laid still, focusing on her breathing, it was just, just a nightmare. Fuck. She brought her fists up to cover her eyes, fuck, why did she have to dream of that? Of Kenma, she lowered her fists glancing to the usual space Kenma owned besides, his body laying lifeless beside her, Kenma? Is he, she reached out slowly, is she still in her nightmare? Her fingers collided with Kenma's shoulder, his body twitching in response, a sigh of relief leaving her lips, thank god. Her fingers relaxed against his bare skin, his arms reaching out to encase her pulling her towards him flat against his chest. His voice was deep vibrating softly against her hair,
"hm, you're awake."
It seemed so, should she tell him about the nightmare or, just, forget it? She shook her head pressing her hot cheeks against his chest, no, she wasn't going to tell him. His chest moved away as his hands lifted her head, his eyes reluctantly opening to look at her,
"you're crying?"
Crying? His fingers traced under her eyes spreading dampness across her face, crying. She forced a smile as she pressed into his grasp,
"just a nightmare."
He hummed as he brought her face towards his, just a nightmare, pressing a kiss against her cheek, whispering
"it's okay, I'm here."
For now, he was here. She breathed in his musky scent, clenching her eyes shut, her hands pressing against his chest. She had decided. Despite the false reality of the nightmare, it made her realise she couldn't drag someone else through her own mud, especially Kenma. So, she traced her fingers along Kenma's chest, tomorrow she'll say goodbye.
