"Looks like we're late for morning practice," Kenma stated removing his hand from hers as they entered the courtyard, sadly fading into his own bubble.
Akasuki hadn't noticed the time, her eyes were too busy prowling the surrounding area for trouble.
"Ah, it's Kuroo, talk about good timing," Kenma chuckled.
Good timing. Kenma glanced at her brushing his hand against hers,
"you okay?"
She met his eyes with a short nod,
"yeah, I," she glanced over to Kuroo leaving the gym with Yaku now by his side, "I'm just gonna go to class," she stepped away, "go be with them, I'll see you later."
Kenma tilted his head in confusion, his lips parting slowly trying to get words out but Akasuki had already left, fumbling with the door handle. Come on, is she going to beaten by a door today? The door suddenly flung open,
"look who it is."
Her eyes widened, oh fuck, slowly meeting his gaze. She had mentally prepped herself up to meet with him today but standing before him, she felt smaller than a mouse. His lips curled into a smirk glancing behind her,
"I guess I better get started," he leaned in close to her, his lips brushing against her ear.
The fact he was so close to her made her stomach churn and her body stiffen. She hated it,
"stop seeing him."
Stop seeing him, the words rang in her head. She had already made this conclusion but actually having it said to her, brought the fact into reality. She gritted her teeth as she nodded. She had to stop seeing him, for his safety. He grinned wrapping his arm around her shoulders as he dragged her into the building, leading her to class,
"you really know how to tease me don't you?”
She glanced at his hand hanging over her shoulder, a large scar imbedded across the top, is that from,
"it's cool, right?"
Cool wasn't the word.
"Do you remember the day I got it?" He asked sourly.
"Hm," Akasuki hummed, she remembered every small detail.
He grabbed her hand lifting it to run over the scar, instant waves of guilt and regret washed over Akasuki.
"You still never apologised for it," he whispered, apologised?
He halted in front of the class door, turning her around to face him, his eyes burning into hers,
"It was your fault after all."
Her fault, that's what she thought, that's how she felt. After the weeks of convincing herself it wasn't her fault, she realised, it was all for nothing because in the end, it'd always be her fault,
"I'm sorry," she whispered averting her gaze.
Oh fuck, her eyes locked with Yaku's, his face brewing red. He wasn't meant to see him. Her eyes moved to the person beside him, Kuroo. At least Kenma wasn't with them, they must've walked him to class. Kenma's safe. A breath of relief leaving her lips, which was halted by sudden hands grabbing her cheeks forcing her face towards him, hissing into her face,
"get your job done, and only then will I change my mind."
She nodded. Get the job done. He pushed the door open, moving her carefully to the door,
"enjoy class."
Akasuki stepped in glancing behind her to see Kuroo and Yaku looking into the room at her from behind him, this was for the best.
"Damien," the teacher spoke, "shouldn't you be at your own class?"
"Yes Ma'am, I was just making sure she got here safely," his lips curving into his contagious smile.
He's lying. How could they not tell? She nodded,
"Fair enough, now head to class," she turned to Akasuki, "take your seat."
Akasuki sat down at her desk as she closed the door on Damien, his angelic expression fading. As long as she stuck to his orders, they'll be okay.
