Dragons

Rose's POV

My blue eyes fluttered open, feeling the events of last night suddenly rush to the front of my mind once again. I looked down to see I was wrapped up in the blanket that Draco had given me, the smell of mint now transferred onto me. Katherine was no where to be seen, neither was Pansy thankfully. I quickly rushed to me feet and got changed into my uniform and robes. I pinned my messy blonde hair back into a high pony tail and coated my lashes my mascara to make myself look more awake. I headed out towards to great hall eager not to miss breakfast. I was starving.

I walked into the hall to see Katherine chatting happily to George. This made my heart swell. They were both laughing and the smiles on their faces were huge, they need to get together already.

"Rose" Suddenly I was pulled out of my own thoughts to see that Matt was stood in front of me
"Matt Hey" I smiled "everything okay"
"Yeah, I just erm"
"Yeah?" I urged on
He looked like he was desperate to ask me something, but before he could get the words to spill out of his both I felt a pair of strong arms wrap themselves around me.

"Rose" Cedric smiled, turning to face me
"Someone's happy" Matt chuckled, trying to hide his obvious frustration.
"Yeah why are you so happy" I asked
"Guess who just asked Cho out"
"Merlin, finally took you long enough" Matt teased
"I second that"
"She's going to be my date to the ball"
"Erm to what" I asked, looking extremely confused
"The Yule Ball" Cedric stated.
"Cedric what are you on about"
"Merlin, Rose. Hogwarts are hosting a ball on Christmas Eve to celebrate the tournament, I got told early because I am one of the champions..." He said, glowing with pride.
"Right...." I stated
"You don't sound excited Nicholls" Matt queried
"I'm just not that bothered honestly"
"Well you better get bothered, boys are going to be lining about to ask you out" Cedric smirked
"Brilliant..." and with that I rolled my eyes and made my way to the Slytherin table.

"A ball" I heard Katherine muttered
"So you've heard" I said taking a seat besides her
"You should ask George" I smiled.

Katherine suddenly went bright pink, her cheeks perfectly flushed and rosy.

"So are you excited Dearest Rose" Blaise teased from the other side of the table
"I mean I guess it could be fun"
"Who you going to go with" Jordan chimed in
"Merlin I've only just heard about it".

"About what" Draco said taking the seat opposite me and avoiding my gaze.
"Hogwarts is hosting a ball, I'm just asking who Rose is going with" Jordan said.

This then made Draco's eyes meet mine instantly. It was intense.

"I have no idea Jordan" I replied
"Go with me" He smirked
"Low blow mate, I called dibs on Rose" Blaise scoffed
"Dibs?" I questioned
"Seriously" I said again "mature"
"Oh come on Rose, can you blame me I wanted to get in there first"
"Well I think my friend Matt just tried to ask me now" I trailed off.
"Really?" Katherine gasped "I thought he would"
"Why?" I questioned
"He's like you for ages!" She beamed
"Erm...he has" I said confused
"Can't blame him, your hot" Blaise winked
I simply shot Blaise a smirk.
"So 3 guys already want to go with you and no one even officially knows about the ball yet" Katherine teased, playfully pushing me.
"Calm it Katherine" I said.

I looked up to see that Draco's fist were clenched and his expression had anger plastered all over, as if he was ready to get up and hit someone right then and there.

2 days later
------
I had not really spoken to Draco since the night we studied together, we had potions together and were civil but we haven't had a real conversation. I still wore my necklace but I just covered it up underneath my clothes now, I did not want it on show like before especially when I didn't know if me and Draco were even on speaking terms. But today was an exciting day, it was the first day of the tournament.

Harry had found out what the task would be a few days ago; Dragons. Honestly I thought Cedric was going to faint when he told me. But me, Cedric and Matt have spent the past 2 days brushing up on everything Dragon, trying to ease Cedric's nerves and to make sure he was prepared.

The stands were already full of people cheering, excitement beaming from everyone's faces. Apart from the rest of the Slytherins of course ....
I found Katherine and we went to go sit with Hermione and Ron. Technically we were on the Griffindore side but I did not want to sit with the rest of the Slytherins today. Today was Cedric and Harry's day. Once we sat down Hermione was in a rate huff, complaining about some picture that was taken of her and Harry just now. Ron on the other hand had a sour face, he hasn't spoken to Harry since his name was chosen. Honestly, I couldn't believe he really thought Harry put his name in, but it's Ron he'll come to his senses eventually.

The trumpets suddenly sounded and the first task began. Cedric was first up. Oh god. But Merlin did he do amazing he retrieved the egg fairly easily, not that I was surprised but he made it looks so flawless. I saw Cho eagerly chanting away for Cedric, which made my heart sing. They really did go well together. The crowd roared when Cedric finished the trial, even Draco.

Harry on the other hand, did not have an easily ride. But again not that he was surprising but he retrieved the golden egg and beat the Dragon in Harry Potter style, which finally made Ron come to his bloody senses.

My nervous for this entire tournament had finally settled down, I really believed Cedric had a chance of winning this thing, I loved Harry Potter but I was team Cedric all the way.

"You heading out" Katherine asked as she sat at the end of her bed reading
"Yeah, their having a celebration in the Hufflepuff common room nothing special if you want to come"
"Sure" Katherine muttered and got up, brushed her hair and was ready
"Am I invited" Pansy spat
"No" I scoffed.

Me and Katherine made our way down the cold stairs rather sluggishly. I think we both wanted to just go to bed, but it wasn't everyday your best friend beats a Dragon.

"Off somewhere".

Oh I know that voice.

"I'll meet you outside" Katherine muttered while walking off.

Silence

"Well where are you going" He tried again.

Silence

"The silent treatment, really".

Silence

"Really" I scoff and walked straight out of the common room before he could say another word, I just didn't wanna fight right now. Not today. I just wanted to see Cedric and celebrate that was it.
