Rose's POV
——————
It was late April, many months had flown by since I had boarded the Hogwarts express. The sky had grown darker, the air thicker, the tension higher. Every day I woke up I wondered if today would be the day we would have to fight. It was a thought that plagued everyone in the wizarding world. It was a thought that kept us all awake at night.
I had been sneaking off to London every now and then just to escape the gloominess that was Hogwarts. It hasn't been easy and it was only on rare occasions but I needed any escape possible. Michael didn't understand that though, he didn't understand much about my these days. We had still been dating, but it was fizzling out, it had been for months he just couldn't admit it. We were getting along more like friends these days, the connection that had been there was fleeting.
The Carrows had only grown more sinister but by miracle I had not received another detention and did my best to stay completely out of their way. Neville however hasn't been so lucky, his arms were full of cuts, a new one everyday. They kept trying to make him use the cruciatus curse on first years, he refused every time and with each time he'd get punished. I think the Carrows had now turned it into a sick and twisted game. Like cats playing with their food.
To all of our distress their had been no word from Luna either, McGonagall had no news on her where abouts, no one did. She was just another name on an extremely long list of missing wizards and witches. She had turned into just a number now...
It was Sunday afternoon and I was getting ready to make a trip to London, I just wanted to spend a peaceful afternoon away from the castle. Sunday's were the perfect time to leave, the Carrows would be held up in their office most of the day. However, I knew this would have to be my last trip to London, the days were only growing more dangerous. This had to be my last trip. I pulled on my black coat and headed for the door, passing through the common room and travelling down the cold hallways. I watched as students passed me by, most of them covered in bruises and cuts, curtsey of the Carrows. I noticed how students didn't smile anymore, not one person I passed was smiling. I rounded the corner about to leave the grounds when I spotted Michael walking towards me. A frown plastered on his face.
"Are you okay?" I questioned
"Yeah, where are you heading to?"
"Just going to get some fresh air" I smiled
"I can come with you" He said hopefully
"No I'm fine thanks, I could do with the alone time".
Silence
"Rose just say it"
"Say what?"
"You know what"
"Michael-"
"We don't belong together do we?".
Silence
"No I don't think we do" I weakly smiled
"I guess it took me a while to realise" He frowned
"I'm sorry, if I'm being honest I kind of feel-"
"What?"
"I feel like I was cheating on someone when I was with you"
"What are you on about" Matt said completely confused
"I don't get it either believe me, it's just a feeling"
"That's a shit excuse Rose"
"It's not an excuse!"
"Listen let's just leave this one a friendly note"
"Okay...".
Silence
"If it's any conciliation I think Katie Bell likes you"
"Really" He scoffed
"Really, you deserve someone who-"
"Who will actually like me" He laughed
"Yes" I simply stated
"Thanks for nothing" He rolled his eyes, leaving me stood alone.
As bad as it sounds, I'm glad that happened as awful as it was, he was getting extremely annoying. With everyone that was going on he was just there, like a distraction. But distractions never last long.
I brushed off the thoughts of Michael completely, a heavy weight being lifted off my shoulders as I made my way for London.
Draco's POV
——————-
I'd been keeping a close eye on Rose, despite my mother's advice, after what happened with the Carrows how could I not. Rose had been sneaking off to London to the same dirty muggle coffee shop for the past few months. She would just sit and drink and endless supply of hot chocolate before her body couldn't consume anymore. All I had been wanting to do was go in and sit with her, even more so since seeing her before Christmas. Our eyes not being able to leave each other's, it made my feel like there was still a chance. So I did it.
