Chapter Nineteen - Dire Consequences

After their brief resting period, the Kybuck Clan and Professor Huyang followed Ironwood into an office room where Glynda Goodwitch and Qrow Branwen were waiting.

Glynda: You're all here. Good. Now we can get started.

Katooni: Is Ruby all right?

Qrow: She'll be fine. She's all tuckered out from that fight. She's resting at her home.

Ironwood: But we have more pressing matters to speak of. We encountered an enemy who wielded powers such as yours. He even wielded a weapon like yours. Do you know him?

Upon hearing this question, the Kybuck Clan were unsure at how to answer this. Only Ozpin had a slight understanding about the concept of the Jedi and Sith.

Katooni: We don't know him personally, but we know what he is. He's called Darth Jadus and he's a Sith Lord.

Ironwood: A Sith Lord? Let me ask again and this time, I want the truth.

Petro: We are telling you the truth! This guy's extremely powerful!

Qrow: We know. We watched him decimate an entire army without as much as a scratch. Not only did he pull two Bulkheads out of the sky, but he created some kind of giant storm. I've never seen anything like it.

The Kybuck Clan immediately pieced together Qrow's words with the shockwave they felt during the battle. At that point, Ironwood spoke out.

Ironwood: We need to address this threat now! Tell us everything you know about him!

Katooni: There's not much we can tell you. We know as much as you do.

Ironwood: Don't play dumb with me, girl. I know you, your friends and that thing are connected!

Petro immediately become agitated and stepped between Katooni and Ironwood.

Petro: Watch it! I don't care who you are! No one talks to Katooni or any of my friends like that!

Ironwood: I'd change that tone if I were you.

Glynda: James! Arguing like this isn't going to get us anywhere! We have much bigger things to worry about!

Qrow: She's right, Jimmy. With Ozpin gone, we're looking at a bad situation on our hands.

Ironwood: If Ozpin had let me do things my way, this threat would've been quelled. All this waiting allowed our enemies to move right under our nose when we should've taken the fight to them! Ozpin's lack of action cost him his life.

It was clear to the Kybuck Clan that Ironwood's method of attack was drastically different from Ozpin's. Katooni soon voiced her opinion. Ironwood soon reminded of their darker Jedi Master counterparts during their trials.

Katooni: But doing that would mean countless lives being lost!

Ironwood: It's war, girl. Wars have their casualties.

Petro: But you saw what Darth Jadus is capable of! You really think your army stands a chance against him?!

Ironwood: Even with all that power, he is just one man.

Qrow: And look what that one man did to your forces, Jimmy. It's clear to all of us that you're in way over your head.

Ironwood: And where were you when this one man was slaughtering my troops?! Where were you when this one man humiliated us?!

Qrow: You only have yourself to blame, Jimmy! I told you fighting him like that was a bad idea! You didn't listen to us! Instead, you sent your men straight into a grinder! Every man that died from Jadus is on your hands! You just don't have the guts to accept responsibility simply because you were too prideful to stand down!

At this point, Ironwood had had enough. Qrow's words as well as the humiliation he suffered at the hands of Darth Jadus had greatly impacted him.

Ironwood: I can see that you are all just like Ozpin. You would have us sit back and watch the world burn when we could easily put the fires out! If you all wish to be like Ozpin and allow our enemies to build their strength, do as you wish. I however will not. I will take the fight straight to our enemies.

Ironwood then began to walk towards the exit. Before he does, he takes one last look at the Kybuck Clan.

Ironwood: I suggest you watch yourselves. The Atlas Military is not something you wish to have as an enemy. Do remember that if you ever find yourselves in Atlas.

With that cold warning, Ironwood left the room. That warning sent chills down everyone's spines. It was clear to everyone in the room that Ironwood had no intention of following Ozpin any longer. Ironwood's words annoyed Petro.

Petro: That idiot is going to get himself killed! He doesn't know what he's dealing with!

Glynda: I fear we can no longer count on Ironwood's support anymore. With the CCT Tower destroyed, Global communications have been halted to a standstill. Remnant is vulnerable.

Katooni: Then we should prepare!

Qrow: Hold your horses, kid. This attack is only the beginning. I doubt that they'll move on their next target so soon. These next few days might be the best time to make our next move. I'm gonna go check on Ruby and Yang.

Katooni: What about us?

Qrow: I suggest you all rest. I managed to pick up a trail that leads all the way to Haven. It's quite a long trip. We'll discuss the details later.

With that, the Kybuck Clan would take the opportunity to rest. But at that moment, the Kybuck Clan knew that Remnant would be forever changed. The attack on Beacon would set in motion a plot to engulf all of Remnant into eternal darkness.
