Chapter Eighteen - Dark Revelations

Beacon had fallen. Grimm had taken over the academy. Countless people were dead in the aftermath of the attack. Gungi had been taken to a hospital to recover from his injuries. Byph waited outside his room while the rest of the Kybuck Clan were looking for Katooni and Petro. As he waited, Byph was approached by Velvet.

Byph: Hey Velvet. 

Velvet: Is Gungi....

Byph: He's okay. The doctors were able to heal most of his injuries. He's just resting. 

Velvet looked into the window of Gungi's room. She saw him laying unconscious in his bed. She remembered how he fought fiercely to protect her. She could see some of the injuries he sustained in the battle. Seeing Gungi like this broke Velvet's heart.

Velvet: My team and I will be transferring to Shade Academy. I was hoping to say goodbye to Gungi. Could I....

Byph: Go right ahead.

Velvet then enters Gungi's room. She then remembered all the times he went out of his way to protect her despite being a total stranger.

Velvet: Gungi...thank you. For everything.

Velvet then pulls out a v shaped necklace from her pocket and places it in Gungi's hand. She then kisses him on the cheek. As she wiped the tears in her eyes, Velvet left Gungi's room.

Velvet: Thank you, Byph.

Byph: Good luck, Velvet. May the Force be with you.

With that, Velvet left the building. Not long after, Gungi woke up. He saw the necklace in his hand. As soon as he came too, he could immediately tell that Velvet was the one who left him the necklace.

Gungi: <Velvet....>

Soon enough, Zatt and Ganodi as well as Katooni and Petro joined Byph in checking up on Gungi.

Petro: Hey there, big guy. 

Ganodi: How are you feeling?

Gungi: <I'm...I'm fine, guys.>

Petro: See? What did I tell you? He looks like he could pull the ears off a Gundark!

Petro's lighthearted comment seemed to brighten the room a bit. Though that wouldn't last for long. 

Zatt: What happened out there?

Katooni: We...we encountered him. 

Byph: Him? Who?

Katooni: The Dark Man. 

Upon hearing this, the rest of the Kybuck Clan was in shock. They had long since been wary about the Dark Man, but they didn't think they would be facing him this soon. 

Ganodi: How did that go?

Petro: He kicked our asses! We couldn't even land a hit on the guy! 

Katooni: The Dark Side was strong in him. He...he was a Sith Lord. He called himself Darth Jadus.

That revelation deeply disturbed the rest of the Kybuck Clan. They all had heard tales about the Sith. To hear that the Dark Man who had loomed over them was a Sith Lord made things even worse. As they pondered on this revelation, Professor Huyang entered the room. He had heard the Sith Lord's name being mentioned.

Huyang: Are you certain of this?

Katooni: Yes, Professor Huyang.

Huyang: Then I'm afraid Remnant is in even bigger danger. What you faced was a Sith Lord from the days of the Old Republic as well as one of the most powerful Sith Lords of that era. 

Katooni and Petro believed their old teacher. They witnessed his power and how he overpowered them with ease. 

Petro: But wouldn't he be thousands of years old? Even the Force couldn't keep you alive for that long?

Huyang: Darth Jadus was a member of the Dark Council. His power was second only to Emperor Vitiate. Before the outbreak of the Great Galactic War, Darth Jadus disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Jedi records actually claimed he died. But this confirms otherwise. 

Katooni: He was unlike anything we've ever faced before. It...it was like were were facing a storm of darkness. 

Petro: We were lucky to get out that alive. The power on that guy was unreal. We didn't stand a chance. 

Zatt: At least you two were able to get away. 

Katooni: Ozpin and Pyrrha weren't so lucky. They were killed in the attack. 

Hearing the news about the deaths of Ozpin and Pyrrha deeply saddened the other members of the Kybuck Clan. It was clear that the attack on Beacon was meant to serve as a message. That message would echo across all of Remnant. 

Zatt: During the battle, there was some kind of shockwave that knocked us off our feet. We couldn't help but feel a powerful dark presence. 

The power of Darth Jadus was unlike anything they've ever faced before. Not even the likes of Count Dooku or Maul wielded that kind of power. It was clear that Darth Jadus presented a clear threat to Remnant. Suddenly, Ironwood entered the room. 

Ironwood: I would like a word with you all. 

Petro: About what?

Ironwood: I think we all know what this is about. We have much to talk about so I suggest you don't waste time. 

Ganodi: Our friend is just recovering! 

Ironwood glanced over to Gungi. He showed no sign of emotion in his eyes. 

Ironwood: I've had soldiers return to their posts with much worse injuries. Follow me. We have much to discuss. 

Petro: Mind telling us what this is about? I think since Ozpin brought us into this, we have a right to know. 

Ironwood: You'll know once we arrive. 

Left with little choice, the Kybuck Clan and Huyang were given little time to rest as they followed Ironwood. It was clear that the attack had changed everything in Remnant. Now they would have to face with the aftermath of the attack.
