February 2015

Willow's bad feeling was only getting worse.

As they descended down the stairs, every inch of her felt like it was on alert, just waiting for something to happen. It was almost to the point of exactly what Willow knew she had felt when she managed to hide from the Wendigo in the mines.

The wolf barked softly, whining at something to the right.

Willow's hand covered her mouth as they approached, the torch lighting the scene of the darker colored wolf's body. It's head was almost entirely snapped off it's body, while it's insides were missing.

"Ah, son of a bitch." Mike said.

Her stomach twisted in a knot.

Willow looked away, her face almost buried in Mike's sleeve with how close they stood. The wolf whined again, backing up and brushing against Willow's leg.

"Jesus Christ, what the fuck have we gotten ourselves into..." Mike looked down at Willow.

She looked up at him, shaking her head as she turned away from the sight. This was worse than the rat coming out of the dead guy in the morgue.

The wolf let out another bark before continuing down the hall.

Willow glanced over the door to the left of the body. It was covered in scratches and blood.

"These doors were built like tanks.." Willow mumbled, "What the fuck was wrong with the inmates?"

"I don't know, but come on." Mike tugged her sleeve with two of his fingers, the gun in that hand hitting her leg softly from the movement, gesturing down where the wolf had gone, "You want to get this over with, right?"

Willow nodded, tearing her eyes away from the door, avoiding looking at the dead wolf. Wolfie was all alone now. Both of his companions, dead. Willow wanted to cry for the wolf.

As they followed Wolfie down the halls through the sanatorium, Willow's instincts were telling her to run, to turn back, but she forced herself to continue forward with Mike and Wolfie. They had to find Josh and get the keys and she refused to let Mike do it alone.

Toward the end of the hallway, Willow froze hearing a faint echo.

"What?" Mike turned to look at her.

Willow gulped, shaking her head. "I just.. thought I heard something similar to what I heard in the mines."

"Will..."

"Let's just hurry up, okay?" Willow looked up at him, curling in on herself.

She really didn't like how she was feeling. Anxious to the point of wanting to puke, but that might also just be having seen a mutilated wolf body. The rock in her stomach was just as big as it had been when she was hiding now, but there was no sign of anything being wrong.
