I watched my brother and Molly laugh more and more and soon Andre even began to flirt. She was not all that bad....I guess. I was thinking about my group, we hadn't spoken for two weeks now. Lucie's own group spent only a week in figuring out their mystery. Fuck the mystery club....But not my friends! Yes they were my new and only friends and I wanted them back, we were not going to break up like some boy band. I sighed and looked back at Andre and Molly who kept laughing at Andre's every cheesy attempt to flirt. She was not like Jenny, she was a lot more free with Andre and very playful. Still, she did know how to look quite hot. Things were beginning to spice up and soon Andre was so close, he only had to whisper for her to hear him but I could hear him. Feeding her the food did not go so well and Andre was trying everything in the book.
'What do you want?' Molly asked still laughing. I brought out my phone to make a video of this "love confession" that would either go wrong or end very beautifully.
'I__I want to get that food off your face. Andre said staring at her lips.
'You wanna kiss me?' Molly thought this was hilarious and was still laughing but in a flirty way. Some girls are really good!
'I don't know if I said that. I wanna get food off your face.' Andre said pressing his lips on hers, they separated then back again. Then Andre licked the food particle of her lips.
'Eeww!!!' I shouted. Before this I had been super quiet. I put away my phone as they looked at me angrily. I left the living room but I still peeped at them.
They were kissing again and I could see they were getting in too deep already. Andre was breathing louder while his hands held tight to Molly's back, and I could see that he desperately tried to keep his hands from going below. Molly herself seemed to like it. I can't believe I was watching this. Andre lifted Molly up to the kitchen counter and her hands went to his shoulders but under his shirt.
'Andre's not....em...' I blurted out running into plain sight. 'He's not allowed to...em... have sex.' I said swallowing. Molly jumped off the counter.
'Of course. What the hell was that, right?' Molly said. Andre chuckled. 'Next time, I will take the food off myself.' She said.
'Which room should I stay?' Molly asked reappearing.
'Em..the first room at the left.' Andre replied.
'That's his room right?' Molly hid her smiling face behind her hair. 'Please where can I stay Anna? Your room?' She asked. No way! Not after the French kiss with my brother! I would imagine that all night.
'Just stay in Andre's room for a while.' I said.
'Okay, but I have to change first. There's too much Andre all over me.' Molly said with a seductive face. She left to Andre's room, possibly.
Andre gave me that look. That look when your almost twenty-year-old brother wants to become a "man" without his mother knowing. I could not stand the look of desperation.
'No Andre!' I said covering my ears.
'I swear I'll use protection.'
'I do not need to know that. All I know is mom told you not to!'
'I lost Jenna because of this.' Andre sounded sad.
'Andre you always follow what mom tells you.' I said.
'You know this is not just about what mom tells me.' Andre was right. Mom did not want him making another woman a mistress too. She knew how that felt. Mom had always been scared of us possibly falling in love and ending up with a totally different person. Dad did that to her. They had been in love since high school, lost their virginities to themselves, planned their whole life but when they got to the real world, they were told NO.
**********
Mom was back three days after Molly left. She worked so much these days and I did not know why. Dad always had things covered for us and there was no good reason to work, really.
I was still trying to figure out if I was chasing the right vandal after all, if I had to get the group back together, I had to do it with a little boost.
There we were sitting in the living room with Mom busy on her laptop, Andre texting Molly (who still wasn't officially his girlfriend) and I writing out connections in this mystery.
A knock came at the door and I went to get it. It was a white tall beautiful woman with a blazing red lipstick on. The woman barged in with no permission to enter.
'Sorry ma'am but you... you can't come in.' I said trying to remember where I know this rude white lady from.
'Now I can't come into my husband's house?' The woman said looking over her shoulder at me. Then I realized it was Dad's wife. I lowered my head.
Mom realized her and quickly stood up. She was shaking and scared but was trying to hide it. Andre stood up too.
'Thank Jesus, your kids don't look white.' The woman said with an evil relief. Mom said nothing. She was wrong, we did look white. Anyone who saw us would know we had a white parent... but that didn't matter.
'Bitch you don't look ready to leave my husband. I wonder why your people act this way. So unruly and immoral.' The woman continued constantly giving us a disgusted look. Andre was still quiet but you could see all his veins popping out.
'Have you told your children yet?' The woman asked. Mom did not say anything.
'Have you told them? Answer me!' She was like our mistress and we acted like the servants who never spoke. 'Would you answer me!'
'Told them what Ma'am?' Mom asked. Her voice was faint and there was an obvious struggle as she spoke.
'Mom.' Andre did not want her to respond.
'Have you told them they're bastards.' This sounded like a regular question, considering her tone. Mom gulped. Andre made to intervene but Mom held him tight. I could see her dig her nails into Andre's arm as warning.
'Stay away from my husband. Your children are dealing with racism and illegitimacy, I would not want them to deal with a mother behind bars.' She looked around for some seconds and left. Nobody had anything to say, even Andre who always had something to say when it came to racism and insulting his family__but the two were done and he said nothing because Mom had stopped him.
Andre released himself from Mom's hold.
'We should all forget all this.' Mom said.
'No, she was right... We are bastards.' Andre said.
