"Ah, geez. I cant believe he made me do that..."

Tendou complained to himself.

"Hopefully Ushi-kun waited for me-"

He looked around the empty campus.

"Damn."

He scowled and adjusted his backpack as he started walking, cursing under his breath. He heard something from around the corner of the building.

"Wakatoshi! Honey I finally found you!"

It was a woman's voice and she seemed to be talking to Ushijima.

"W-why are you here."

He heard the olive-brown haired boy's deep voice. Tendou peered around the corner, being careful not to be seen.

"I came to see you, Wakatoshi. I came to take care of you!"

The woman talking was straggly looking with olive-green hair and a short, skinny build. She was standing in front of a taxi.

"Mom."

He spoke firmly.

"You can't. You already know that, you've tried."

"But honey, I'm ready this time! I'm really gonna try!"

The woman took a step towards Ushijima with her hand out, but he backed away.

"I'm sorry mom but I have a friend I need to find."

He begun to walk away when she grabbed his shirt.

"You're really going to just tell me no like that? After I came all this way? You have no idea all of the things I went through to get here!"

Ushijima pulled away from her grip and continued walking.

"If you really wanted to make an effort to take care of me, you wouldn't have left me those times before."

And with that, he turned the corner.

"Ten-"

The two boys starred at each other, horror in both of their eyes.

"We're you..."

Ushijima muttered out. Tendou's face went red as he looked down and nodded.

"I'm sorry."

His voice was quiet, but loud enough for the taller boy to hear. Ushijima turned his head to look at the gym and shoved his hands in his pockets. Tendou glanced back up at him.

"I won't ask any questions... if you don't want."

He knew what it was like to have people asking annoying questions about things you'd rather not talk about. Ushijima only hummed. Tendou clapped his hands together, bringing Ushijima's attention back to him.

"Well, we should start heading home."

He tried to put his usual smile onto his face. Ushijima only hummed again, and the boys began walking together.

After long moments of silence, Tendou finally made an attempt to break the tension.

"If it makes us even, my sisters a druggie. My dad kicked her out after he caught her... doing drugs and stuff. I'll spare you of the details. But they don't get along at all so whenever she comes over they always fight. It sucks."

He let out a pained laugh.

"And if it doesn't?"

Ushijima questioned.

"Make us even?"

Tendou left a small slight smile on his face.

"Well then I guess you just know that now. Do what you will with it."

He stuck his hands in his pockets, Ushijima taking a moment to speak again.

"I think we're even."

Tendou this whole time had been trying to figure this boy out. And finally, finally he did it. He had discovered the one thing that exposed all of Ushijima. He finally fulfilled his promise to himself. But in this moment, as the two boys smiled to themselves, bumping arms as they walked home, he didn't care in the slightest.
