CHAPTER 13: The King and Founder

Crizten's POV

DALAWANG araw na ang nakakaraan nung nagsacrifice si Charles at naging matagumpay ang misyon namin na iyon. Ngunit kahit nagtagumpay kami, ay hindi ko man lang maramdaman ang dating kasiyahan na nararamdaman ko kapag nananalo ako.

Is it because of his sacrifice? Or is it because I felt guilty after receiving those words coming from Chloe's mouth?

Pagkalabas na pagkalabas ko—habang bitbit bitbit ang walang buhay na katawan ni Charles ay sinalubong kaagad ako ng magkasunod na sampal mula kay Chloe at Cassandra. They told me how selfish I am. Then, I did it again. I let my curiosity to take over my mind and body. And as a result of it, Charles died. He sacrifice his life to save me.

Mapait akong natawa habang nakatayo sa harapan ng puntod ni Charles nung muli kong maalala ang sinabi nito nung nakaraan.

"Please think that Im only doing you a favor since we need someone like you. Im a sacrificial pawn, afterall."

I don't get you, Charles. Why does this Academy need someone like me who are selfish and stupid? I am nothing unlike you.

Bumuntong hininga ako nang maramdaman ang presensya nya sa likuran ko.

"Please, Ariella. If you are here just to mock and kill me, do it later. I don't have time to deal with you."

Narinig ko ang pagtawa nito. "Are you that depressed, cousin?"

"Just get lost." hindi pa rin ako lumilingon sa kanya.

Bumuntong hininga ito. "I already told you that its a gamble, right?"

Tuluyan akong humarap sa kanya. "Then, why?! Why on hell you suggest that plan if one of us will die because of it?! Tell me, why?!" Hindi ko na napigilan ang sarili kong maluha habang sinisigaw iyon.

"I thought I told you that its the only way to defeat him?" Nanliit ang mga mata nya.

"If one of you didn't sacrifice for your both sake's, you both will end up dead. He is a monster."

"I don't care! Dapat hindi mo na lang—"

"And, what do you think your Mother and Father would feel if you ended up dead because of him?!" I was taken back by her words.

"Do you really know why your Father died?" tanong pa nya dahilan para kumunot ang noo ko.

"W–Why are you suddenly bringing my Father's death?"

Mapait itong natawa. "You don't know?"

Mabilis akong umiling. "Ang sabi ni Mama, he died because of Leukemia—"

"What a lie," natawa ito. "Should I tell to you, then? Para maintindihan mo kung paano ang takbo ng mundo?"

Huminga ito ng malalim. "My Mom only told me this. At first, I thought she's lying but when I asked your Mother about it, she told me that its true." muli itong huminga ng malalim. "When you were a year old, someone tried to kidnap you."
