It was finally time for breakfast and I asked Tola if I could walk with her,she agreed and we went to join her friends and they were talking about random stuff that happened when they were in junior class, that was how I found out there was a sort of animosity between the boys and the girls.
Apparently in their js1 class , three girls ganged up to beat up a boy after he was pestering them, they eventually broke his head with a stone and that was how the war began.
It was so funny and I laughed so hard but that wasn't even the end of it, the boys planned and plotted their revenge, and one day when the girls least expected it, they were picking papers around the school since it was their duty as junior students and suddenly they heard a whistle, the boys straight up removed their belts and started flogging them.
The girls were so confused they didn't know where to run so that day, they had a beating to remember.
Apparently since then it's been off and on with the pranks against eachother, I sincerely hoped I wouldn't be caught in the middle of any wars, I hated being flogged.
We finally reached the hall and I found out Chidera switched tables with a girl name Hyelni, I was curious but after she called me princess today, I wasn't exactly smiling with her,Hyelni seemed really shy and only spoke when spoken too,I tried to find out more about her ,especially the meaning of her name , it was a beautiful name and I found out it meant Gods gift in Bura from Adamawa state ,she asked for my tribal name and I told her it was Simi ,she smiled and said so you're berom , I said yeah, she said that's cool, but berom men are drunkards here,I laughed, and told her i heard about that too but my dad wasn't a drinker ,she said i was lucky cause having a drunk father was a serious challenge.
We eventually kept quiet when it was time for prayer, the prefect on duty called a Jessica to pray, and since she didn't specify, I saw at least 5 of us heading to meet her ,she laughed and pointed at another girl to pray so I went back to my seat, Faith laughed and told me I needed a nickname to differentiate me, unless I wanted to be called Jessica A always,I really didn't want that and she told me that because names are common, a nickname is needed or you'd just be called with your surname. Faith was always called Faith Abdul and I dunno why i didn't notice it, she decided to call me Jess Jess, why I asked, it sounds so weird, she shrugged and said because Jessie sounds like a guys name,I told her I'd rather be called Jessie.
After breakfast we walked back to class and I found out everybody had shuffled their seat. Even baldy and "beautiful ". I felt weird about it, I wondered that maybe I was too rude to Baldy and that was what made him leave, I shrugged and stopped thinking about it, other people came to talk to me and I was really glad they did. We got to playing word games because we were bored and I was pleased to see that I was winning, it was so cool and we didn't even realise when it was time for break until I saw Sharon smiling and waving to me from the window, I excused myself and went to meet her and she said she wanted to give me a tour of the school. I laughed and replied thank you ma'am. She put her hand in mine and took me to the girls toilet first, she said that was the most important place, I told her I didn't agree and she argued that privacy is the most important, I wasn't convinced but I nodded my head in approval.
We went to the labs and then to the library and as we were walking past the ss3 class, a senior sent us to the mini mart to get stuff for her, Sharon groaned, I didn't know why, but I figured it when we reached, there was a crowd there, and there was no way we'd get stuff before the break was over, Sharon in her usual manner, strutted confidently to the front and begged somebody who helped us. I admired her confidence and wished I could be more like her. I knew then that I wanted to be friends with her cause she'd make me more confident.
