~Vampyr~ROMAN
It was after I had shrugged on my shirt after my run that I received the message. The mindlink from Austin was short and brief but it had a strong effect on me.
"An attack. Rogues and vampyrs. Aurlo injured."
That message had me immediately on my way to the pack clinic without a thought. So many thoughts ran through my mind at the news I had received but the one that stayed was simmering anger. The reason, I had no idea.
The peace party we sent to the vampyrs were supposed to return today then this? An attack. Right when we were finally making progress. This was a terrible time for this. I would have to take action. This day was turning out for the worst.
At the pack clinic, the Warriors who had been with Aurlo in the peace party were tended to. I met my mother, who smiled at me in encouragement and I managed a smile back.
I was in the room Aurlo was in soon enough, sitting by the so-called injured patient who acted like the smug bastard he was even though he was in pain. I sat there, just watching him, not saying a word.
He grinned at me then said,
"Heard you got a mate."
I grunted in response. He snickered.
"Oh my. Why? What's wrong? Is the great Alpha King having a hard time with his little mate?", he continued, smirking.
"She's human", I stated bluntly.
There was a pause before the laughter came.
"What? You, who wants nothing to do with humans. You are now mated to one. The Moon goddess outdid herself with this one. This is pure platinum", he said, still laughing obnoxiously. He stopped, wincing in pain then continued laughing but lowly.
"She drives me up the wall and Axel isn't making it easy either", I said sitting back in the chair.
"Well, I can't say I blame him. He's an Alpha and a Lycan after all. I would do the same if I was in his place. And I'm guessing you haven't marked her either."
"She's weak. She can't handle it."
"You know that's not why."
"Aurlo", I said lowly.
He rolled his eyes and sighed before changing the topic.
"Have you heard yet?", he spoke as he stared up at the ceiling now.
"What? Is the attack?"
"No. Not that", he took a breath before, "we found her."
That was enough to make me stiffen but I managed to keep a straight face.
"Where?"
"With Vladimir. They found her in their territory, wounded, with no memory and she had been there since. She still doesn't remember everything since she went missing last year, only tidbits. She remembers you but she doesn't remember what she did to you. To the pack."
I let out a sound of suppressed frustration then ran my hand through my hair. I felt so pissed but I still didn't know why. But Aurlo wasn't done talking.
"We were bringing her to you for you to deal with her but we were attacked. Vladimir was having problems of his own. Some vamps had banded against him and were against the peace treaty. They managed to get rogues on their side. In the end, several of our Warriors were injured but not too severely. We won't take long to heal. But she was injured too."
