And right on the moment, I stepped in, I felt like I was being followed.
There was a reflection of that guy on the door in front of me. I could see an evil smile.
I felt a chill run through my body.
Then, I thought,
"Maybe I read too many detective books! That's why! Nothing is happening! Nope!"And right on the second after thinking that, I remember what my father told me once.
"Always listen to your soul."So, I had to listen to my gut! But I waited a few moments. He couldn't do anything in the library after all.
Keeping an eye on him, I kept roaming in the library for about 30 minutes.
Being a booklover, I was always glad that I found that library! It was an ancient, aesthetic, calming place that I loved the most! While choosing a book from a corner, I looked all the way around the library, and couldn't find that guy.
I told myself,
"He vanished! Nothing to worry about it!"I smiled like an evil this time.
Looking around the library, I realised that the tightness in my chest had gone as well as the stranger!
That delicate environment of the library was honestly perfect to brighten my mood up.And I killed three birds with one stone.
First of all, filling my mood with light! Secondly, getting rid of the stranger. And finally, buying some new books!I said in my mind,
"If it starts raining by any chance! I'm gonna spend the whole night reading these crime fictions!"I smiled without even knowing.
The librarian was a benign beautiful lady in her 50s. To be honest, she was one of the reasons I loved to visit the library.
"Hello, aunt! How are you doing?"
I asked her as I passed the books to her.She smiled.
"Just the same old!"I laughed weakly,
"And how's uncle doing?"She said as she took the books,
"He's just hanging in there."I let a sigh out carefully.
Mr.Brown, her husband, had been in a coma for over 5 weeks.
A great man he was!
Before he had the stroke that caused him to be a coma, they both used to work here.I heard from my grandmother that both of my parents used to come here when they were younger.
Moreover, she told me that she and my dad's mom, who passed away before I was born, were best friends!
I felt excited for no reason after hearing that.Anyhow, aunt and uncle had been working in here since then, when my parents were in their 20s.
"It's probably gonna rain today."
I suddenly heard her saying. She grinned,
"Your uncle always said he wanted to die on a rainy day. You know why?"I nodded,
"He was born on a rainy day..."She laughed,
"Then he told you this, too!"I chuckled, though I wasn't unable to see the dense pain in her eyes.
How does it feel to lose the one you love?
"It's not that bad to lose the one you love, to be honest."
She suddenly said, as if she heard me asking it.I looked at her with questions in my eyes.
She said,
"Especially, when you know that they're in pain.""Oh..."
I say quietly.She mumbled,
"It doesn't hurt to see your loved ones let off their suffering and be delighted, even for one second, right?"I kept silent, watching his unhappy woman.
As she handed me the books I'm buying, she said,
"Kathy?""Hmm?"
"Remember, whenever you feel like you're gonna lose someone you deeply love, hug them as tightly as you can. The warmth of their body will reach your soul and wipe your fear away."
I stared at her.
She let a sigh out with a wistful smile on her face, and said,
"And when you 'know' that you are gonna lose someone you intensely love, just smile until your face hurts."She stopped.
Her words hit my brain like bullets.
I had never felt that extreme grief in my chest before. She, then, asked like a professor,
"Have you understood, Kathy?"I smirked and nodded.
"Good girl! Keep it in mind."
"Okay! I'll get going now aunt, mom said I have to do 15 push-ups if I don't go back before sunset!"
She laughed.
"Okay, sweetie!""Take care, aunt! Of both yourself and uncle! I'll come to visit you guys in the hospital."
"Sure, Kathy! You take care, too!"
I waved at her as I came out of the library.
It was getting darker and darker as each second passed. Even darker than it was supposed to be because of the clouds.
I came onto the pavement and the first thing I saw was that freaky boy in a black hoodie.
Only this time, I got angry.
"Argh! Not again"
