Chris POV
I entered the locker room trying to rub the exhaustion out of my face. The school was normal, and the guys were their obtuse selves like usual. Not as much as usual, Cameron, Jordan, and Austin were a lot more friendly and approachable. But they seem completely different at school than at home in general.
So it's not just me they treat me like that. It seems like they never really let anyone close to their group.
I went to my locker and rubbed my head again wincing as the bump on my head hit the locker. I still had some bumps and bruises from the fight Friday night.
I started to strip quietly into dancing gear when I saw a pair of small feet stomp in front of me. "Chris!" Addy yelled in the middle of the locker room making me cringe. Just like she did this morning she wrapped her arms around my shoulders.
I guess after Friday night's fight she felt super bad and was super worried about me. First, it was worry and anxiety because I don't have a phone so she had no way of contacting me to see if I was okay. After spending the whole day seeing if I was okay or not she is now obsessing over the Mitchells and my relationship.
"So, where did they take you? You have once again become the talk of the school because videos have surfaced of the fight and of Jordan dragging you out of there." She wiggled her eyebrows but I could still see the worry and sorry in her eyes.
Addy might try to act tough but she is terrible with confrontation and claims up when someone yells at her. The total opposite of me who would rather fight than question over the latter question than fight.
"Nothing, they just didn't like a girl fighting a guy. "Kings" of the school and all." I used hand quotes because who the fuck names a group of guys at a high school. Is this some kind of television show?
She raised an eyebrow, "I don't know you guys seem kinda close. And you have a class like all of them. It was fate." She told me while tying her shoe. I waved her off as I tied my hair up, trying to get all my curls into the hairband.
"Next topic please." She shrugged her shoulder and started talking about her day. Addy was a blabbermouth it seemed so once I got her going she didn't stop.
We entered the room and headed to Wes, Teresita, and Kim. "She's alive!" Wes announced throwing his hands up. I rolled my eyes at him before sitting down in front of him to stretch. "I wish I wasn't," I replied back with a wink causing him to snort.
"So, you and the Mitchells." I raised my hand, cutting him off. "Yeah, it's a no for me. Next topic, Addy has already spent the whole day picking my brain." He pouted but thankfully changed the topic.
"So, Barb announced that the party is going to be this weekend. Kinda like back to back activity." Wes informed us, getting all of our attention.
The second I heard the party I whirled my head around. Once I realized I seemed and was overly excited about the whole thing I reminded myself I was trying to get better.
But then Addy, Kim, and Tesersita all seemed to get visibly excited at the mention of the party. Making it hard to resist craving information. "Party?" I asked hesitantly.
"Yeah, Barb hosts a party and the dancers and cheerleaders perform. She rents out a whole bar and everything. Kinda her way of staying captain and well known around school." Kim answered for me.
Wait, isn't that what Leo was telling me about? "Well, that sounds fun," I said dryly. So it's just a popularity contest I guess. "Yeah, and it's mandatory for the dancers to go. Team bonding apparently." Teresita added. "Don't get it wrong it's fun but it's Barb."
