"You can't do this."

"You won't stop me. You're not capable of."

"I assisted you for years and suddenly you don't see me as equal?"

"I simply used you. Thank you for finding out about what I was searching for, you did great."

"No!!" Your mother, M/n screamed and shot up from the bed. "What's wrong, M/n? Had a bad dream?" Your father, F/n yawned and rubbed his sleepy eyes. "It's 3:30 am... We should sleep." He said and wrapped his arms around M/n, gently stroking her hair. "The usual?" He asked and she nodded. "Hey I know you really wanted to do science but failing university is normal, science's not for everyone, even if you love it. You really need to move on." He cheered M/n up and she nodded, hiding her guilty face by pressing it against his chest.

She felt guilty for not being honest with her family. You and your father never knew about the burden she had to keep a secret. She knew about the downfall of the whole humanity but had to keep her mouth shut, so you and your father would be safe.

You opened your eyes, happy that it was Saturday, meaning you fully had time to study. "Tomorrow you'll bring every letter to my place. We will figure everything out then." You remembered his words and you glanced over to your drawer where you put your mother's letters in. "So no studying today then..." you mumbled and smiled a little.

"Stone", "June 2019", the Amazonas, and a sun. You thought about those hints for a while but you couldn't think about a possible explanation. Asking your mother can't be an option because if she would talk to you about this she wouldn't create riddles like this. She tries to communicate without words.

You walked over to them and continued to think about them, but soon you heard your room's door being opened. "Y/n? Good morning!" Your mother greeted you happily and you panicked slightly, turning around. "What's wrong? Are you ok?" She asked you with a confused expression and you shook your head, sighing in relief. "No, you startled me." You lied and she giggled, nodding. "Sorry then. Would you mind coming with me? I want to show you something." She said and you rose your brow in confusion and also curiosity.

The two of you, since your father was busy working all day from Mo-Sa, were alone and went to the living room. She pointed at the TV and smiled. "Do you think you can make a time capsule?" She spontaneously asked and you, now that you noticed something was off, immediately understood she wanted to do something letters related. You hid your knowledge though and gave her a confident smile.

"Nothing easier than that. Well...it depends on the time-lapse the capsule has to work. I could make a very easy one holding almost 100 years and the most reliable method works for approximately 10,000 years or even millions of years if mother nature's generous." You told her and she nodded with a smile. "Perfect then. I watched a documentary about time capsules and it really caught my interest! I wanted to try making one with you together! Your little brother might be knocked off his feet if he finds out about it when he's grown up!" She said with a bright smile and you nodded, returning her smile genuinely.

"He will. Well, we need a lot of materials to really make it work!!" You said and immediately dragged her to the home exit. "Wait, Y/n! You're still in pajama!" She noticed and your eyes widened. You looked at yourself and sighed. "I'll go change..."

Soon, you and your mother drove to the city with her car and gathered everything important for this time capsule. "The best way for making stuff inside the capsule survive for many many years is to create a vacuum, since air often reacts to a lot of things, causing most of the stuff to be disintegrated by time. If it's paper it'd be useful to laminate it so it would get rid of most of the air slowly reacting to the paper so it'd disintegrate because of acid corrosion. If it's metal it could corrode too, so if it has to be metal it needs to be something inert like gold, silver, platinum, or bronze." You mumbled to yourself and thought about every possible and ideal way to make the time capsule work.
