Chapter 20

"Where the hell were you?!" You heard behind you and soon after felt yourself being pulled into a bone crushing hug... According to the strong female voice you 100% knew that it was Nikki... "I was worried!!" She scolded you and you nodded. "I need...air...!" You choked out and she let you go soon after.

"I'm sorry, I forgot you still didn't gain a lot of muscles... So? Where were you, Maddy?" She strictly asked you and you internally panicked. Would she believe you? "I was preparing...a surprise...!" You told her, heavily breathing and she huffed, patting your head with her strong hands. "Good. I thought I needed to smack someone's butt if they would have kidnapped you." You chuckled and nodded. "I would have found a way to escape, don't worry."

You pointed behind you. "Would you help me gathering everyone? I prepared breakfast. Lunch also." You told her and she laughed. "Now I understand which surprise. I will gather all those big guys. You'll get the girls. Also, search for Ukyo. I don't want to leave you alone." She told you and you shook your head with a smile. "It's ok, I can go gather everyone on my own-" she immediately interrupted you with a death glare. "You won't go alone. I'm not trusting anyone but you or Ukyo." She strictly demanded and you hastily nodded with an intimidated smile. "Y-Yes!"

As she left to gather everyone, you searched for Ukyo and soon found him in the front of the territory (the front with the rocks etc, where Senku's grave would later on be). It was the best area to check for suspicious sounds for people who had ears like him. He of course recognized your footsteps from afar and smiled at you as you've approached him. "Searching for me, hm?" He guessed and you nodded.

"I've prepared breakfast for everyone. Later there will be lunch too, that I've prepared together with Hyoga." You told him and he rose his brow as you mentioned Hyoga. "He caught me gathering ingredients. I wanted to surprise everyone by making it on my own but he didn't let me do it on my own." You told him and his eyes narrowed. "Did you observe him as he helped you?" He asked and you nodded. You knew he suspected if he could have poisoned it or so.

"He did a good job helping me since I am short in comparison to him. He reached stuff for me." You explained and Ukyo nodded, sighing. "I hope it's as you say... If I were you I wouldn't have let him touch anything, remembering the stuff he said yesterday." You nodded. Ukyo and you often seemed to be on the same page... Would he trust you more than Tsukasa? Since he was an icon himself because he was famous as the strongest Highschool primate people follow him because of his fame. Which grants him the dangerous opportunity to have people around him, who are especially loyal.

"Maddy, are you ok? I've asked you what you made for 3 times now." Ukyo chuckled and you snapped out of your thoughts. "Oh I'm sorry... I was trying to remember if Hyoga did something questionable. But seems like he genuinely wanted to help me." You quickly explained and Ukyo nodded. "Also, I've made a quick salad in ancient style. With a little meat." You told him and winked with a happy face. "The lunch is the Highlight." Ukyo's eyes widened.

"You've made salad? In this stone age? I knew you are smart but if you continue to do mind blowing stuff like this, you'd make yourself a target just like that scientist." He chuckled and you nervously also chuckled. If Ukyo only knew... "Might be true...I liked cooking and used to cook a lot before, so I only use my knowledge from regularly cooking for all of us..." You nervously explained and scratched your back.

"Anyway, let's gather everyone. Nikki already is gathering the men and told me to gather the girls, with you on my side so I wouldn't be alone." You explained and Ukyo nodded. "Nikki really is protective... But she's right, you can't be on your own at this state. You still have a lot to learn." He told you and you smiled.

Time has changed... People around you started to genuinely care for you, which you've only been used to with Senku, Yuzuriha, Taiju, Nishino Takino and your parents.
