Chapter 6

The minutes went by one by one. But as you started to focus on the experiment you forgot everything around you and minutes felt like peaceful hours. You always found true peace when you focused on things you liked.

(Senku's point of view)

After 3 minutes of starting the work on the project, I noticed how she started humming and singing while she worked. It was as if she had her own radio implanted in her head. In the laboratory, she didn't do that, so I was confused she did that in her home. I never heard her hum or sing.

I stopped working and listened to her humming. I would normally declare her humming as annoying, but I had to admit...she has a beautiful voice. I decided to don't say anything and listened to her humming songs I don't know while working in parallel with her.

But she always managed to bring me out of focus. I knew that I wasn't used to working with another person outside of a laboratory, especially while the other person hummed. When working home, I was working on my own. Sometimes Taiju helped me but he didn't directly work with me.

I smirked and stood up. She didn't even notice me getting up. At that state, I could steal things from that dumbass. I decided to scold her later and searched for the bathroom in a for me new house. I was more than confused about how they arranged their rooms.

After 5 minutes of searching and visiting the bathroom, I found the bedroom of Y/n parents on my way back. They never were home and left Y/n alone for long hours. Curiosity made me act without thinking and I entered that room. Soon saw a lab coat hanging on the wardrobe door on a hanger. I rose a brow and walked towards that coat. I knew that this wasn't Y/n's coat since I don't remember Y/n's coat to be that used up. Her's was newer.

As I walked closer, I saw the name M/n L/n sewn into the top left corner of the chest area. Her mother was a scientist? I saw a letter on the chest pocket and took it out. It was written in English and appeared pretty worn out.

"Dear Y/n,
You finally found my coat. Today's the (birthday) of 2004 while I'm writing this letter. Today was the day where you for the first time in your life saw the light of this world. If you are reading this, I did everything right. I just know that you grew up to a young passionate girl. Two years ago, I decided to give up on science, because I failed it. I didn't put enough effort into familiarizing myself with it. I was too weak to fight and gave in. My family was an obstacle that I had to overcome first. I am torn to pieces because of my given up dream, but I'm happy since right now you are sleeping in my left arm, while I am writing this letter. You and your father are everything I have. If you have trouble fulfilling your dream, feel free to fight for it. I won't get in your way like my family used to do with me, whatever you may dream of. Of course, I wouldn't be a fan of a dream like drug dealing or...dirty stuff."

I chuckled. That was a cute idea of Y/n's mother. I sat down on the bed corner and flipped over the letter to continue reading what she had to say.

"You aren't Y/n, right? I caught you. I'm not dumb after all. If you're not Y/n, you must be her soulmate then. No one would read a letter that is directed to someone else. Only a soulmate would. I will forbid Y/n to ever enter the room where I will be putting that letter."

My eyes grew wide. Her mother really was a smart woman... And what does she mean with soulmate? If she meant rival, ten billion points for her.

"If you are Y/n, stop reading and jump down to where the next paragraph starts.

Soulmate, please take care of her. I don't know how she's going to be like since she's a few hours old right now, but please stay with her. Support her in what she wants to achieve and keep her head up. Talk to me after you read this letter. Well, if I'm alive. I promise to take care and live until you talk to me. Use the word "Lithium" as the third word of your sentence and "fluoride" as your ninth and last word. Creating lithium fluoride was my very first chemical activity so I will definitely know that it's you. That's it for now. I hope we can talk with each other."
