(Originally, I had cut this chapter in half but it was unbelievably boring so I put it back together. This has a better ending anyways.)
-Gun's POV-
YN was already asleep. Was she sick? Maybe I should have felt her forehead. I walked down the stairs and picked up her favorite book. I had taken it from her yesterday after I finished The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton.
It was a good book, I see why she likes it. But THIS book? Pride and Prejudice? Really? It's so boring. Why does she like it? She says she loves Elizabeth but she wants to marry Mr. Darcy. Why him? He's such an asshole.
I sat on the window bench and opened it to the page I left off on. Why am I even reading this?
Although...she said Mr. Darcy reminds her a bit of me. Does that mean she has a thing for me!?
After rereading the same sentence 15 times, I glanced up to see Sofia sitting next to my socked feet.
"Can I help you?"
"I should be asking you that. You need to ask her out quick."
"Who said I like her in the first place?"
"Honey. I know about you and your job and history. You don't bat an eye before you beat a bitch up. But the moment she gets upset with you, you go crawling back to her on your hands and knees like a sorry puppy."
"I don't crawl or beg."
"Ha! She walks away from you and you run to buy her shit to try and make up for it. And your dumb dumb self doesn't realize that makes her even more upset. And yet you STILL do it? Come on, ever thought of APOLOGIZING perhaps? Hey babe, I'm sorry for beating the crap out of your friends today. Is there anything I can do to make it up to you? Although...you probably don't want to call her babe....she'll kick you."
"If I try to talk to YN when she's mad, she'll tell me to leave. And she'll throw rocks at me again...that shit hurt."
"Remember when she told you she never wanted to see you again and that she hated you? Remember how you then went out and bought her expensive shit?"
"Wait, how did you-"
"How did she react to you trying to buy her forgiveness?"
"....."
"Come on, how did she react?"
"She got mad."
"She got mad." Sofia nodded, putting her legs up next to mine. "She doesn't like people trying to buy her things for forgiveness. She likes to talk about things, even if she has to wait to calm down first. And I think beating her friends up is going to be a little harder to make up for."
I went silent. I knew she was right, but I didn't know what to say.
"You have to try not to fight so much. YN doesn't like that. Especially when you fight her friends like you did today."
"How did you know I-"
"YN is a pretty forgiving person. But that's honestly her weakness and why you need to talk it out. She blames herself for everything, even if she had absolutely no control or part of it. She's going to blame herself for whatever she got mad at you for."
She was right. I just assumed she shrugged it off and went on with life that one time.
"You beat up her friends, she's going to blame herself saying she should have stepped in, even if you ended up beating her up. That's why she forgives you and everyone else so easily. Because if you don't apologize and accept responsibility, she's going to think it's something SHE did. She's going to think SHE brought the pain and punishment. She just puts herself into a deeper depression that she refuses to admit to."
I thought back to that day. She was blaming me, and rightfully so, for hurting her friends. But when she went down to get the pizza.... She had been crying hours before, but then she looked like nothing happened. Like it was just any other day and she was getting food.
I felt awful and I tried to see what I could get for her. She refused everything. She didn't want anything to make up for it. It was stressful.
I tossed and turned that night, I just couldn't sleep. I had decided to smoke to calm my nerves, but I had to lean out the window because YN always complained about the smell. That and she told me to stop smoking. I was trying but it was hard.
I was lost in thought about how I could make it up to YN when she started to step out the window. I was surprised to say the least and then she turned to me. She looked just as surprised to see me.
When she asked to step into the hallway and talk, I acted normal as I closed the window, but I practically flew out of the room.
I was brought back to reality by the thunder rumbling over head, followed by a flash of lightning. It started raining again, this time twice as hard. Good thing YN is asleep. She hates lightning and thunder. Hopefully she doesn't get nightmares.
"I guess I understand. But why are you telling me to apologize right now?"
"Because knowing you, you need to know for like, tomorrow or whatever."
"You think I'm going to upset her that fast?" Well...when she finds out you fought her friends, she might be a little more than upset."
"How would she know?"
"People talk."
"I don't think they'll tell her."
"How do you know that? And even if it's not that, you'll probably find a way to piss her off."
I examined her face and decided to change the topic.
"So....how long have you and Goo been having sex behind YN's back?"
"E-excuse me?!"
"The way you're sitting looks like you got stabbed in the thigh. You're also holding your back. Did he bite you and go to hard?"
Her eyes became that of a cornered animal but then she smiled.
"Okay, maybe we have been for about a month now...don't tell YN though, she'd kill me!"
"That's none of my business anyways."
"Thanks." She smiled looking relieved. "She would MURDER me if she knew I was sleeping with her brother!" Sofia laughed and I choked on my spit.
"Her brother?! Goo is YN's brother?!"
(Is this considered a cliffhanger? ANYWAYS, bye!)
