Fitz took Sophie back to Havenfield and she forgot that she hadn't leaped in a little while. She swayed a little and gripped Fitz's shoulder.

"Woah there, careful. Don't wanna go back to the healing centre now, do you?" Fitz laughed.

"Yeah, I'm ok. Just haven't leaped in a little bit."

Fitz lifted Sophie up into his arms and carried her through the kitchen to the living room where Grady and Edaline were sitting on the couch.

"Sophie, honey! Are you alright!?" Edaline asked worriedly.

"If Fitz hurt you in any way..." Grady warned

"And if you"  Grady aimed at Fitz, " DID do ANYTHING to my daughter..."

"No, Lord Ruewen, Sophie fell at school and I was just taking her home." Fitz explained.

Grady accepted Fitz's explanation and let Fitz take Sophie upstairs. Sophie squirmed and kicked, trying to escape Fitz's grasp.

"Soph, is something wrong?" Fitz asked. Sophie shook her head.

"No, but I can walk on my own! I'm tired of being treated like a fragile glass doll!" Sophie complained.

"Soph, I just want you to be safe."

"I know I just..."

Fitz interrupted her with a kiss. He kissed her as he carried her up the stairs to her bedroom. He set her down gently on her bed and pulled the sheets up to her neck.

"Goodnight Soph." Fitz whispered in her ear. He kissed her on her forehead and quietly sank into a  plush chair  by her bed. The sound of her even, soft breathing lulled him to sleep and he quietly said "I love you, Soph." Before he drifted off.
