I don't usually do this sort of thing because I don't associate with petty people but I'm dedicating this chapter to a person who thinks it's okay to tear other people and their work down in order to feel better about themselves.

So @ZahinRashid here is the attention you so desperately ordered. Negative comments are a given in this world but you, hun, you're just plain nasty and I understand this story won't be everyone's cup of tea but instead of choosing to personally bash a writer I hope in the future you choose the higher ground and better yourself along the way. Before you come at me for my passion make sure you can back yourself up first. Have a lovely day!

=====

They were all sitting in the library, half of them looking frustrated and the other half looking like they didn't even know where they were. Jackie, Sadie's best friend, was looking more upset than I had ever seen her before.

I made my way to the back of the library where the personal cubbies were and where I found her waiting for me. Missy sat at one of the enclosed desks, examining her nails with a slight frown on her face.

"I need a fill, so bad," She mumbled to me as I took a seat next to her. This was normal, always talking about something she needed to fix with her appearance. "What did you want to talk about?"

"Maybe you can use the money you took from my account to get a whole new set put on," I set my backpack down on the desk hard and Missy jumped slightly.

"Oh please, you know why I needed that money," She was still playing dumb.

"Come clean, now," I leaned forward, elbows resting on my knees as I glared into her and she squirmed under my gaze.

"I asked you for a favor and you helped me, what is there to come clean about?" Instead of looking nervous now, she looked more confident than ever. She knew exactly what she had done and of course didn't feel an ounce of guilt for it.

"You used me for money claiming you were pregnant Missy, that's fucked up,"

"It was a serious concern of mine at the time, turns out I was just late a few days," Missy shrugged and smirked slightly before turning her attention back towards her nails.

"I'm guessing that's why you're still sleeping with Mr. Finn then?" Her head shot up and she glared at me now.

"How the hell do you know about that?" She whispered, glancing around quickly to make sure no one else was listening to this conversation.

"Because I'm not stupid and you clearly are," I snapped back and Missy took a deep breath before running her manicured fingers through her hair. Suddenly her attitude changed, gone was the confidence she tried to radiate and instead she seemed to almost cower in front of me.

"I love him, Kent," She finally whispered and even though I didn't have feelings for this girl anymore I still felt a red hot blade pierce through my heart.

I took a deep breath and remembered what Mr. Finn was actually taking off my hands. The unnecessary drama, the constant doubt and worrying. Maybe with Missy tied up in Mr. Finn I could finally focus on a relationship I actually wanted.

"You have a week to get that money back into my account, one week," I stood up quickly and grabbed my backpack while Missy stumbled for words.

"How am I even supposed to do that?"

"I'm sure you'll figure something out. You always do," I gripped the straps on my backpack harder, "I had to lie to my parents for you and that's the last time it'll happen. Don't forget who my mom is,"

Missy was noticeably upset at the mention of my mom, who she had never gotten along with in the first place.

As I walked away I found myself wondering if my mom would like Sadie, I'm sure she would. Maybe I would ask her to come home for Thanksgiving and meet the chaotic bunch. Maybe she wouldn't even want to come though.

When I reached the front door of the library I could see the group dispersing, each going their own way for the next period. Speaking of which, I needed to get to class myself.

Charlie and Sadie were ahead of me a bit, walking towards the science building and deep in conversation. I wanted to run up and interrupt, talk to Sadie since I hadn't made it back last night but it felt like a personal conversation. As soon as I saw them part ways I rushed up beside Charlie to walk to the gymnasium together.

"Hey, what's up?" Charlie almost looked surprised to see me.

"Hey man, where have you been?" He asked, nudging my shoulder.

"I had some homework to do," There was a slight awkward pause, "What were you talking with Sadie about?"

"Oh, we were just talking about the dance coming up," For the second time today my heart sank deeper and my chest tightened. Had Charlie asked Sadie to go to the dance already? And had she said yes?

"Did you ask her?" I suddenly blurted, curiosity getting the best of me.

"I hinted at it but I don't think I'm even going to go to the dance this year,"

"But you're the one who came up with the whole theme and worked for weeks to convince everyone on it?" Why wouldn't Charlie go to the dance? He loved our school's dances.

"I'm just not really feeling up to it right now, who knows," Something about Charlie was off. Maybe it was just a bad day but for some reason I didn't feel like that was the case right now. I wonder if Charlie actually did have some feelings growing for Sadie. He wouldn't be the only one.

"I'm here if you ever need to talk, you know that right?" Charlie gave me a thankful look before grabbing the gymnasium door for me and letting me lead the way.

"I know buddy, I'm always here for you too," He smiled back at me and things seemed to go back to normal for now, "You're my best friend after all,"

"I'm glad I have you by my side Charlie," I said as we made our way to the locker rooms.

Now with Missy caught up in her high school scandal with Mr. Finn and Charlie as my best friend, I knew Sadie and I actually stood a chance at a real relationship. Only if she wanted one with me though, of course.
