Sadie squirmed next to me for the third time since sitting down and I couldn't help but smirk. She was cute, I'll give her that. Acting as if we hadn't fallen asleep in each others arms last night.
Well, her in my arms really.
Come to think of it, Sadie moves a ton in her sleep and she snores. Loud.
Charlie and Squid were the first ones to test out the new, first person shooter game and the guys were going nuts about it. It was alright, the graphics were pretty impressive but it was just like the dozens of other videogames we already had here. I took a swig from my beer and settled into the couch more, pushing into Sadie even more.
"Did you have fun with the guys?" I whispered to Sadie who was pretending to be intrigued with the game.
"Is someone jealous?" She snapped, glaring up at me but that only made me smile more.
"I'm always jealous when other guys get to spend more time with you than I do," I winked at Sadie who was caught off guard by my sudden honesty. She rolled her eyes and looked away, a slight blush creeping up her cheeks and I continued to smile. Obviously playing hard to get wasn't getting through to Sadie, straight forward was probably my best bet to get to know her better.
Squid was over the game already, his temper flaring as he handed off the controller to someone else who was eagerly waiting their turn.
"Do you want another drink?" Charlie asked, at first I thought he was asking me but then I realized he was looking right at Sadie. Charlie-always the perfect gentleman. Well, sometimes.
"Sure," Charlie winked down at Sadie as he walked towards the mini fridge. I rolled my eyes and kept my eyes on the screen even though I could feel a smug Sadie staring up at me.
"Here you go, my lady," Charlie dramatically bowed down to give Sadie her drink, a few of the other chuckling as he did so. Show off. Sadie giggled and grabbed the beer from his hand, thanking him before he sat back down.
Sadie looked down at the drink with uncertainty all over her face.
"Let me open that for you," I snatched the bottle from her hand and popped off the top with my keychain bottle opener. "Enjoy,"
Sadie slowly grabbed the bottle from me and stared down at it. She almost looked like she was going to be sick. I wonder if she's ever even drank beer before.
"What's wrong with you? Drink up," I nudged her slightly and she glared up at me as I took another swig from mine. "Don't tell me you don't like beer,"
"So sue me, jerk," Sadie muttered, shoving the cold bottle into my hands and standing up abruptly. No one else seemed to notice as she quickly slipped out of the room. I set down her bottle and hurried out of the room after her. Again no one seemed to notice the two of us were leaving, all glued to the screen.
Sadie was almost to the stairs when I grabbed her elbow and pulled her back towards me.
"Where are you going, Princess?" I asked, having to bend over slightly since she was so much shorter than I was. She glared up at me again, as if I should know why she's upset.
"Are we just not going to talk about last night?" She suddenly snapped and I could feel like face starting to get hot. Most girls would just pretend everything is fine then go stick pins into a voodoo doll they made of you in their underwear drawer. "Usually, normal and mature people talk about something like that,"
"Sadie, I've barely seen you all day, when exactly were we supposed to sit down and have a heart to heart?" I asked, sarcasm dripping from my tone and her glare turned even colder.
