I watched as Ryan shamelessly leaned onto the table with his elbows, eyes sparkling towards Charlie who was trying with all his strength to ignore him.

"I especially wouldn't mind going with a very attractive football player," As soon as Ryan spoke, Charlie was snapping his notebook shut and scooting his chair back to stand up.

"I'm going to go tell Dylan to ask Holly to the dance, uh, see you guys around," Charlie rushed off without looking back once. I guess there was a rumor going around that Dylan was going to ask Holly to the dance and since he hadn't yet, Holly was freaking out and hiding in her dorm room.

"Was I too direct?" Ryan asked, looking at the rest of the group with puppy dog eyes.

"Maybe just a tad," Jackie whispered while the rest of us cautiously nodded. There was no hiding the fact that Ryan was head over heels for Charlie, everyone knew that, but it also wasn't a secret that Charlie was straight.

"Straight boys are so annoying," Ryan huffed in frustration and the rest of us laughed.

Josie stood up, saying something about a banner for the next football game and rushed off, leaving Jackie, Ryan, Sadie I at the table now.

I took advantage of the opportunity and slid into the empty seat next to Sadie who seemed hard at work studying.

"What are you working on over here, cutie?" I leaned closer to her, making sure our shoulders were touching, to look at the notes she had scattered around her.

"English paper, having to write about our inspirations," She explained quickly, taking a deep breath in but not letting it out. I leaned back from her and settled into my chair, making sure to stay closer than necessary to her though.

I noticed Sadie glancing around at the others at the table, wondering if they were watching the two of us or not. I gently pushed my leg against hers under the table and kept it there. I liked touching her, in any way I could and while we were in the library this was probably the most appropriate way to do that.

"I think you look really good in red," I whispered, leaning close to her again but now crossing my arms on top of the table and allowing my fingers to brush against her arm. Her face, as red as can be, almost matched the red sweatshirt she was wearing.

"Thank you, my mom bought it for me," She reached up to touch the sweatshirt and smiled at me.

"I definitely wasn't talking about the sweatshirt, but that's nice too," I thought it was adorable how much I could make Sadie blush. Before she could say anything else I quickly added, "I think you'd look stunning in a dress this color, too,"

Sadie's head whipped towards mine, her eyes staring widely at me. "Do you mean...?"

Before she could ask if I was indeed asking her to the homecoming dance, which is what I was getting at, the annoying fire alarm began blaring through the library, startling the students around. I reached up and covered my ears like the rest of the group had.

Just my damn luck.

Without thinking I reached out and grabbed Sadie's hand, leading the way out of the library as fast as I could. My head was already killing me from the sound.

"Sadie! Wait up!" I heard her friend Jackie yell from behind us. Ryan was trailing close behind her as well and the four of us made our way together to the football field where we were instructed to meet when fire drills happened.

In the middle of the chaos and all the other students I somehow lost track of Sadie and Ryan, they had disappeared in the sea of people rushing about. Once Jackie and I silently made it to the field I began looking for her. It didn't take long to spot the red sweatshirt through the crowd.

"There you are," I walked up behind Sadie who turned and smiled, happy that I had found her after all. I could see her shivering already. "Here, just a sec,"

I swung off my backpack that I wasn't supposed to grab before leaving and quickly took off my football sweatshirt, hanging it over to Sadie.

"This will keep you warm," Pride swelled in my chest knowing that Sadie was going to be wearing one of my football sweatshirts with my last name on it for everyone to see. Something I had always wanted to be proud of.

"Aren't you going to be cold?" She asked, looking at the thin T-shirt I had on and noticing the goosebumps already appearing on my arms.

I reached out and helped Sadie put on my sweatshirt while shaking my head.

"No I'm fine, trust me. We have practice in this crap so I'm kind of used to it," I rubbed my hands together and smiled down at her, drowning in my large sweatshirt. Sadie smiled up at me and leaned into my side, naturally I draped my arm around her shoulder and pulled her closer, feeling a lot warmer already.

"Thanks again," Sadie whispered, watching one of the teachers attempt to calm the rowdy teenage boys down next to us.

"You can't steal that one though, I have plenty more you can steal if you're ever cold," I quickly added. She could wear it any day, other than game days. It was a requirement to wear either our jerseys or sweatshirts on gamedays and coach would make us run if the whole team wasn't complying to his rules.

"I'm sure you won't have a problem finding your sweatshirt," Sadie teased me, obviously hinting at the fact we shared a room and actually lived together. It was a weird concept that I had grown comfortable with.

I wrapped my other arm around her and turned so we were facing each other now, resting my chin on the top of her head even though I had to bend over slightly to do so.

"Just don't go wearing it Saturday night, okay?" I said, pulling away from Sadie as she peered up at me with a confused look. My heart began racing faster. It was just a stupid question, why was this so hard for me all of a sudden?

"Why would I still be wearing this by-"

"Sadie, go to the dance with me. Please?" I finally blurted out, hoping I didn't actually startle her with how aggressive I had sounded.

"Of course I will," She wrapped her arms around my waist and hugged me to her tighter than before, making me laugh and also squeeze her tighter. Thank God that was over with. I had never been so nervous to ask a stupid question before in my life.

"Finally, you have no idea how long I've been trying to ask you,"

"You have no idea how long I've been waiting for you to ask me," Sadie smirked up at me and I couldn't help but laugh again. I had no reason to be nervous around her. Although I still was.

"I'm the luckiest guy in the word," I said so quietly I thought Sadie hadn't heard it at first. The hardest part was finally over. Now all I had to do was go pick up a suit and tie to match whatever dress she chose.

Oh and a corsage. Where do you even get one of those things?
