Kenma POV:
Had Kuroo really just said that? I? Me? Looked? Good? I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Maybe my mom was right. Did I like guys?
"Thanks. I got the jeans and shirt at the store in Tokyo today." I replied looking out the window.
Surely not. And even if I did like guys, I couldn't like Kuroo. We've been friends, just friends for years. Plus just this morning he said he didn't like guys, so that's helpless. Still, did I like guys?
I continued to stare out the window and ended up becoming more and more aware that I'd never really liked anyone before. I came to the conclusion that I don't think I like Kuroo, we just act like how friends act. That's all.Kuroo had one hand waving out the window catching the breeze as we drove to Bokuto's house. I was extremely nervous and just praying Hinata showed up like he said he would.
We shortly arrived and for the first time I really saw what Kuroo was wearing as we exited the car. I gasped slightly, choking on air as I stood by the car. Kuroo turned back around one hand in his pocket. "You alright pudding?" He smiled at me. I was still coughing, but managed to push a thumbs up in front of me.
Kuroo had on a black button up, which he'd taken the liberty to only button at most half way.
He had tucked it into some maroon pants that were rolled up at the ankles.
The collar of the shirt was flipped up and the cuffs of the sleeves were unbuttoned.
On his wrist was a thick banded black watch, and he had a ring on his thumb.
I finally stopped coughing, "All good." I replied.
"HEY! HEY! HEY!" A yelling Bokuto greeted us, standing at the wide open front door.
"OYA! OYA! OYA!" Kuroo responded throwing his fists into the air and running towards him.
He's already leaving me behind and we haven't even walked inside yet.
Just then Kuroo must have remembered his promise as he made a full stop and turned on his heels. "Cmon,"he said taking me by the hand.If we were just friends, then why only recently had I become so flustered in his presence? Now wasn't the time to think about that, I thought to myself.
Bokuto smacked Kuroo's back on the way in, laughing.
"Oy! You're matching, huh!" Bokuto called out to us over the music that was so loud I could feel the bass in my chest.
I hadn't even noticed, but it did look like Kuroo and I were matching. Both in black and red. "Yeah! I guess we are!" Kuroo responded just as loud. The house was pretty pact full of volleyball players and few girls. The music was loud and the talking even louder. It was actually kind of difficult to tell who was who without their schools colors on, or volleyball uniforms in general.
Kuroo continued to lead me in, glancing behind to look at me. When he did so, he must have noticed I was nervous because he reassuringly squeezed my hand and gave me a smile.
"Hey Kenma, do you mind if I leave you here while I go get a drink?"
I didn't drink, but Kuroo liked to have one or two sometimes. He'd never gotten drunk luckily.
I told him that would be fine and decided to pull out my phone while I waited for him to return.
A couple minutes passed and he hadn't come back. I looked up and saw a familiar flame of hair coming towards me.
"KENMA!" The enthusiastic red head came bounding towards me, "Shoyo!" I responded slightly caught off guard. He wore a large grin as he said hello. He tried to tell me something, but it was so loud inside I had trouble hearing him. He motioned towards the door. I thought for a moment, not wanting to leave Kuroo, though technically he had already left me. I decided to text him saying I was heading outside with Hinata. A moment later my phone buzzed and he told me to have fun, and sorry he had gotten caught up talking with Tendou.
Hinata and I went into the backyard, where there were still people, just not as many, and it was much quieter.
"Anyway, what I was saying was: how are you?" Hinata repeated.
"Oh I'm doing alright. Are you here with Kageyama?" I asked.
"Yeah, but he veered off after seeing Oikawa. Something about wanting to talk about... uh well, I actually couldn't really hear him. I just know he went to go talk to Oikawa. Are you here with Kuroo?" He asked me.
"Yeah, but he went to get drinks and got caught up with some people so I'll probably see him again later on."
Hinata nodded, a big grin still plastered to his face.
"Shoyo?" I asked.
"Yeah?!"
"Well... no never mind actually."
"No! No! Tell me!!" He bounced up and down, as full of energy as ever.
"Well I was just gonna ask, or I guess say that uhm, well, I think I might like guys..." I looked down at the grass by my feet.
"ooOOHHH REALLY?!" His enthusiasm seemed to triple.
"Yes. But please keep this a secret." I asked him.
He ran two fingers across his lips before tossing an invisible key across his shoulder."What made you realize?!" He asked, still smiling.
"Uh, well since you mentioned it. I've been thinking about it, and I think maybe... I might like Kuroo..."
"I KNEW IT!" He yelled, "I KNEW YOU LIKED KU-" I smothered his mouth with my hand.
"Hinata! It's a secret, remember!"
"Oh... right" he said hunched over in an almost whisper tone this time.
"eeeeeeeek!! So do you think he likes you too??!"
"I doubt it. Just this morning he told me he didn't like guys, so..."
Just then we heard some incredibly loud mic feedback come from inside the house. We both turned to look through the floor to ceiling glass window by the door.
"What was that?" I asked."I dunno, let's go see!" Shoyo replied.
