More time had passed. It was now early November and the weather became increasingly cold. Nevertheless, both Kuroo and Kenma were as happy as they ever had been, especially together.
Knowing they could take on the world and make it through everything gave Kenma the most reassuring sense of hope for the future possible. Even if he'd be away from Kuroo next year, they'd still have holidays and some weekends together. Plus, Kuroo texted him quite a bit about everything and anything as it was. Whatever was on his mind or some discovery that blew his mind, it didn't matter. Kenma knew they'd be alright in the end.
Even if some crazy problem was thrown at them, he knew they'd make it to the other side, but anytime he had small doubts, the small ring he twisted around his finger reminded him of just how much they loved eachother. Bringing a reassuringly warm feeling to his whole body.~~~~~~~~~
Kuroo's POV:
It was Thursday afternoon at practice and we were all in the locker room getting changed. Daichi had texted me explaining that we would be having a practice game against them Friday afternoon, so today's conditioning would be to prepare. They would drive up to Nekoma since we met them at their high school the last time.
In the crampt changing room, I went to open my locker and moved past Kenma, lighting touching his waist to get by. He looked up at me, slightly bent over as usual, with his Jersey scrunched in his hands, turning a bright red. I grinned and raised an eyebrow in response. He responded silently through his slightly stunned face. He wasn't exactly one for PDA, as sly or small as it may be.
We made it onto the court and did a ton of drills. Everything from suicides across the gym, to diving around the perimeter. I knew I was wearing everyone out, but it would be worth it. Plus it was some hardcore conditioning that we really needed. That being said, when I looked around and saw Lev collapsed on the gym floor I decided it was time for a break.
"Alright everyone, get water."
Everyone trudged and fell by the benches. They looked as though they'd just crossed a desert and I rolled my eyes."Ive been pushing you all afternoon, because tomorrow afternoon we are having a practice game against Karasuno. I expect your best plays. They aren't the flightless crows they once were." I looked to Kenma who's eyes lit up. I couldn't help but smile.
"What time?" Yaku asked.
"We'll meet here after school, change, warm up, and by then it'll probably be time." I responded.
He nodded.I decided we should cool off at that point, so we ended with some stretching before changing and heading our separate ways. I waited for everyone to exit before flicking the lights off and locking up the gym.
"WAIT, KUROO!!" Yamamoto came barreling towards me.
"I FORGOT MY BLAZER!!" I sighed and unlocked the gym, "Be quick." I looked over at Kenma who was crouched over on a bench craning his neck, engulfed by the screen in his hands.
A moment later Yamamoto returned, blazer in hand and a bit winded.
"Got everything?" I asked him.
"Yes, thank you!" He ran off once again, looking like he was in quite the hurry.I walked over to the bench and quickly grabbed the device from Kenma's hands, holding it above his head. "Oy! Give that back!" He jumped up, failing to reach.
"Gimme a kiss in exchange." I smiled down at a very unamused Kenma.
"Kuro!! Cmon I was right in the middle of a game!"
I looked at a nonexistent watch on my wrist and tutted.
Kenma sighed and grabbed my tie quite forcefully, pulling me down to his eye level. He kissed me quickly.
"Okay now give it back."
I laughed and returned his dear property. As Kenma and I were walking home, I did the talking for the most part.
"Wait Kuro?" Kenma seemed to have been tuning out everything I'd been saying, as when I glanced over, he'd clearly been deep in thought. You could almost see it on the expression drawn upon his face.
He had interjected as I was telling him about how cool arsenic is.
"Hm?" I responded, curious as to what was going on in his head."Will we go over to my house tomorrow?"
"I assume so, why?"
"Well, will we have time after the game?"
"Probably, I'd think so."
"Alright."
"But if you wanna go and hang out with shrimpy, we can just meet up Saturday instead?"
"No, I wanna be with you. I was just wondering.. like schedule wise."
He took his hand out from the pocket it had previously been kept in and restated it inside my coats pocket, intertwining it with mine.
I flinched, "Kenma your hand is freezing!""Oh, sorry." He retracted his clammy hand quickly and stared down at the cement sidewalk.
"No, no, come here." I stopped and faced him, taking his hands, and clasping them around mine, which were significantly larger than his, before blowing warm air into the gap between them. I rubbed them together and repeated the process a couple of times to ensure they were warm.
I went on to then unzip my large puffy coat and pulled Kenma in close before zipping it back up over the both of us, his back in front of me and we continued to walk under the setting sun.
"Warmer?" I asked.
"Mhm.. thank you."
