Time had passed, with both boys still going to school, playing volleyball, and being with one another.

It was now nearly mid October and neither of them had asked the other to officially start dating. Of course they had tried numerous times, but something always seemed to come up.

However, over the course of those couple weeks, people slowly started to find out. Kenma had texted Hinata first, who spread it onto Kageyama and eventually the rest of Karasuno.
As for Kuroo, he sent a message to Bokuto who told Akaashi, and though Akaashi kept it a secret, Bokuto ended up telling pretty much everyone in the locker room one day.
As for Nekoma, they started to realize based off how Kuroo and Kenma acted around one another. Finally, Yamamoto asked Kenma who denied it, but after asking Kuroo, and him confirming, all of Nekoma found out shortly after.

Pretty soon however it would be Kenma's birthday, and Kuroo had what he thought was a genius idea of how to officially ask him out.

Kuroo's POV:

It was the weekend before Kenma's birthday, which fell on a Tuesday this year. We had decided to celebrate a bit early, though my main surprise for him would be for the actual day.

We were on the train into Tokyo for dinner at one of his favorite restaurants with his mom.

Kuroo's Phone

Kuroo: Kenma <3 <3

Kenma: why r u texting me we're sat literally inches apart right now.

Kuroo: I know but it's so silent on this train and I wanna talk to you :)

Kenma: well too bad because I'm in the middle of a boss fight rn

Kuroo: kitteeeeennnnnnnnn :(

I didn't get a response so we just sat until we reached the stop.

"Kuro?" Kenma asked me as we walked down the semi crowded sidewalk.

"Yes?"

"Ive been thinking about going back to my natural hair color."

"What?! Why?! Then I can't call you pudding head! And what about Yamamoto. If he sees you with your hair down in a dark hallway ever again I think he might just pass out. You remember that? When he thought you were the girl from the ring?"

"Kuro," Kenma laughed, "I'm only joking. I just wanted to see how you'd react, and now I know."

My shoulders dropped, "oh... right, though if you did, you'd be just as attractive."
I laughed too, though slightly nervously at him going back to his natural color for the sole reason that he seemed almost more confident after having dyed it. Even if originally it was to stand out less, which actually only made him stand out more.

We ate dinner in a video game cafe, which was pretty much the happiest I'd ever seen Kenma. Everything, and I mean everything, as centered around old and even new games. Every couple of minutes he'd gasp or his eyes would widen when he saw some new reference that neither me nor his mom ever got. I managed to
recognize a few things at most, but I much preferred seeing how passionate Kenma was more than anything else.

After practice and school Monday I rehearsed how everything would go down. I felt the same level of nerves as I did before a match but I knew everything would go to plan. I carefully shoved what was needed to execute the plan into my backpack and zipped it up before heading off to take a shower. I couldn't believe the day had finally come.
