Kenma's POV:

Wednesday morning I walked outside with my backpack as usual.   I wore Kuroo's hoodie that I still hadn't given back to him over the top of the school uniform.

When I went to lock the front door, I saw a note had been taped over the peep hole. I removed it and broke the seal.

It was from Kuroo and read as follows:

Good morning kitten <3 I had to go to with my dad to a super early doctors appointment for his knee and drive him to work as it was giving him quite a bit of pain.
I'll have to drive him after school too.
To make up not walking with you, meet me with your bike at the middle point at 4.
I love you! -Kuroo

The middle point was the spot between our two houses where we met up every morning.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After school I did as Kuroo instructed and waited at the middle spot. Today had ended up warming to a much more pleasant temperature. At precisely 4, Kuroo opened his gate and I saw him coming towards me, his bike following by his side. I still got slight butterflies when I saw him. As well as the overwhelming urge to kiss him.
"So what's this all about?" I asked.
He stroked his chin before seeming as though the thought had come to him,
"A date?"
"Oh I see, and where might we be going?" I asked.
"That's a surprise."
We biked for a good majority of the hour and came to a spot I'd never seen before. It was almost like a secluded beach.
"Are we even allowed to be here?" I asked as we locked up our bikes.
"Of course! Hours are 10am-10pm and open to all." Kuroo responded flicking a metal sign.
"Uh huh", I followed him passed a chain fence and onto the beach. It was just a small strip, ending before the horizon on both the left and right sides, but with the sunset hitting the water, it looked beautiful.
"Pretty good right?" He smiled as he began to take off his shoes and socks. I did the same.
"Yeah, wow. How do you know this place?" I asked him.
"Oh... well my mom took me when I was really little...It's one of the few memories I have with her." He smiled, but I could tell it was forced this time. I leaned against him, interlocking our arms, and held his hand as we let the waves wash over our feet.
"Well look who's the romantic one today." He said nudging me.
"I'll have you know I'm actually very romantic once you get past my 5 layers of awkwardness, shyness, vague-disgust, loneliness, and fear."
Kuroo laughed and kissed the back of my hand, still holding it.
After a while of just listening to the small waves, we retreated to the softer sand and sat down.
"So is there any chance I'll be getting that hoodie back?" He asked me.
"Hmm... no."
He rolled his eyes. I let my head rest on his shoulder as the sun continued to slowly disappear behind the water.
I felt Kuroo fiddling with my hair and it made me feel safe. At that moment I was grabbed by the waist before being maneuvered over his left leg, finding myself between his knees.
"What are you-"
"I couldn't reach the other side of your hair, now sit still."
I felt myself blush to the top of my head. Kuroo ran his fingers through my hair and it took me a couple of minutes before I realized he was braiding it. I sat, waiting for him to finish.
"Okay, done!" He said with a sense of accomplishment. I gingerly touched around my head, feeling a braid on either side tied into what I was pretty sure was one big braid at the back.
"Where'd you learn to do that?" I asked him.
"My grandmother has a hard time doing complex things to her hair anymore, so I help her out sometimes." He responded. I swear I fell deeper in love with him every minute.
As he explained, he wrapped his arms over my shoulders and interlocked his hands in front of my chest. He rested his head on my left shoulder.
"Kenma? Are you from Tennessee?"
"Oh my god, Kuro please-"
He stood up, nearly knocking me over and flicking sand on me, and ran around the face me.
"BECAUSE YOU'RE THE ONLY TEN I SEE!" He grinned, showing all his near perfect white teeth.
"KURO, WE'RE LITERALLY JAPANESE!"
He ran forward again, and picked me up off the sand, swinging me in a circle through the air.
I gripped onto his back and neck for dear life. Kuroo flicked some hair out of his face,
"I LOVE YOU SO DAMN MUCH!!" He yelled as if addressing the whole world. I couldn't help but smile.
"I love you so damn much too Kuroo, but that was wayyyyy too loud in my ears."
"Oh hush." He said rolling his eyes.
"Make me." I tilted my head, raising an eyebrow.
"Well if you insist."
He kissed me forcefully yet at the same time it felt tender. I nearly let go of him but managed to cling on at the last second. The shift in weight must have effected Kuroo more, as he stumbled backwards and I felt his grip tighten. He pulled away from the kiss and his eyes widened.
Next thing I knew, we were back on the sand, me collapsed on top of him.
"Ouch." He sounded winded.
I laughed, "Are you alright?" I asked pushing myself back up.
"F-fine..."
I think we both became aware of the position we were in at that moment. We both just stared at one another.
Kuroo extended his arm and pushed against my chest. At the same time he kicked my foot out from under me, but before I could fall flat on my face, he swapped with me and held the back of my head as it landed back on the sand gracefully. All of that happened in less than 5 seconds, and left me incredibly surprised.
"K-Kuro?" I swallowed the lump in the back of my throat.
He stroked the hair out of my eyes and kissed me again.
It was getting dark but neither one of us really cared in that moment on the sand.
We stayed on that sand for quite a while.
By now the sun had fully set and the beach was incredibly dark. We got up, and I was still out of breath. Kuroo helped me brush the sand off and vise versa. He took my hand as we walked back towards the bikes.
"Oh how I wish I could continue to hold your hand as we bike...Well on second thought, maybe that's possi-" I cut him off, "Absolutely not."
When I finally returned back home, I collapsed onto my bed and sighed. Thinking about everything that had happened that evening.
"Kenma?!" My mother knocked on my door before entering.
"I thought that was you! What were you up to?! You didn't answer any of my texts and I was starting to get a bit worried."
"Oh, uhm, Kuroo took me on a date..."
"YOUR FIRST OFFICIAL DATE AND YOU DIDNT EVEN BOTHER TO TELL ME ABOUT IT?! SPILL RIGHT NOW!!" She jumped with great force onto my bed, smiling wide.
"Mom, that's embarrassing..." I looked away.
"Well then just tell me the parts you want to, but I'm not leaving till I get something."
I sighed, knowing I'd inevitably loose and told her some of what had happened.
