"WHY?! WHY Roman, that's all I want to know..." Virgil shouted in an empty graveyard, sinking to his knees in front of a marble gravestone. Tears filled his brown eyes and he felt like screaming as he read the painfully familiar words written on his tombstone.

'Roman Star~ Son, Brother, Lover~'

Were the only words inscribed on that perfectly marbled stone, the only words any strangers would ever know of Roman. Of Virgil's sweet, brave, Roman. It wasn't enough, those words. It wasn't enough to encompass all the emotion and love Virgil held for him, wouldn't ever be enough. The black-haired, pale male let out a sob.

"You promised me... You promised me YOU'D BE SAFE!" Virgil told the cold, unfeeling stone, hitting the ground with his fists. His voice was broken and scratchy after weeks of disuse, but he didn't care. "You... You were the only thing that kept me going, Roman." Virgil whispered, blindly staring at the stone through his tear-filled eyes.

"I love you so much and yet I'm so pissed at you..." Virgil mumbled, laughing wetly. "You promised me that it wasn't a dangerous mission, that you'd be fine, and two days later you ended up dead. And now, I have a playlist of songs I can't listen to because every word reminds me of you." It was such a small thing, the music that now reminded Virgil of Roman and of what he could never have. Such a small thing, and yet, it was what tipped him over the edge. He didn't know, how long he stayed in that graveyard, crying until there were no tears left until he was but an empty shell of a person. He didn't know, how long it took for his best friend to find him there, eyeshadow mixing with tears as it ran down his face.

"Come on, Virgil... You can't keep doing this every day, it isn't healthy..." Patton told him, offering a hand. Virgil stood up without taking it, his eyes blank and his voice monotonous as he replied. "He was my fiance, Patton. And now I feel like I want to throw myself in front of the nearest truck because he's gone and I. Am. So. Broken. He was the only thing making me better, don't you get that?" He asked, but there was no real heat to his words. Patton tried to smile but it faltered and wobbled until there was only a sad frown left. He squeezed Virgil into a hug, teary-eyed.

"Virgil... There's so much you have to live for, trust me. You're so sweet and kind, please don't-" Patton faltered momentarily and Virgil realized with sudden clarity that he had let too much slip.

"I'm not going to do that, Patton. Sorry for worrying you. I got to go." Virgil lied, slipping from his hold effortlessly. Patton shouted for him and Virgil broke out into a run, luckily there was a bridge near the graveyard. Virgil climbed onto its edge, turned around, and gave Patton his first smile in weeks. He waved and fell back, causing his best friend to let out an agonized scream. Tears streamed down Patton's face as he rushed to the edge, only to see Virgil's mangled, broken body on the ground.
