The night was an embarrassing one for Livy. She recalled being caught red handed while checking out Rei. Wait... Checking out the mark as her's on Rei.

If Nana speaks right, is that the mark binding them together? She pondered.

Yesterday's event was all the more reason to avoid Rei. Livy couldn't allow Rei to think she felt anything towards him. Never.

Their accidental meetings during the day were also awkward. Luckily for Livy, Rei had been busy in his Alpha duties. He was always in a meeting or something. Olivia wondered if Rei was also trying to avoid her. The possibility of him trying to avoid her, made her wanna scoff. So much for love at first sight.

The house was filled with guests, going in and out of Rei's office. Livy wondered what the commotion was all about. She helped Nana, her only friend in the pack, with refreshments.

"Nana, do you know what is going on? Why are there so many people?" Olivia asked.

"It's not good news. I have heard that a war is coming. Relations between humans and werewolves have strained in some parts of the country. Fights have broke out in some pack." Nana replied.

Olivia worried about her family and the humans. She was fimiliar with the strength of the werewolves. She knew the fate of humans if war broke out. She wondered if DelBer was safe for her family anymore.

Her thoughts were cut short by wincing Nana, "Ah, my back! The curse of being old."

"Are you alright, Nana?" Olivia enquired. "You should take rest. I will take care of the refreshments. There are only few left now. I can manage on my own. You should go."

"Thank you, dear. You are so kind. If not for this back pain, I feel as young as you." Livy laughed.

"I think I should visit the healer of DelBer. I heard she is good. She has treatment of all kinds. May be she can help me." Nana muttered to herself on her way out of kitchen. "Oh Livy, could you also deliver that Buckwheat tea to Rei? Thank you, dear."

Livy hesitated as she stood outside the office door. She wanted to walk away but controlled herself. "Rei is my husband and I would have to face him one day or another." With that, she knocked on the door.

"Come in." Came a female voice from inside.

Confused Livy entered the room carefully, to find a girl, Miranda, hovering over a tense looking Rei. What is happening here? Livy was confused. "I brought tea." Livy said.

Rei eyes rose to meet her at the sound of Livy's voice. His body immediately relaxed. "Livy..." Rei was surprised at Livy's presence. He thought she wanted to avoid him.

"Thank you for the tea. Come, sit." He felt delighted to see her making an effort. It was a first.

"No, thanks. I think I should leave you to your guest here." Livy didn't know what to get from the inappropriate situation he was in.

"Yes. That would be nice." Said Miranda. Rei had completely forgotten about her presence.

Astounded at Miranda's rudeness, Livy angrily left the room, with a last glance on Rei. Rei feared that glance. It definitely didn't mean good.

"You should go, Livy. I am thankful for your care, but Rei must be waiting for you. It's almost midnight." Nana said to Olivia, who had been tending to her all evening.

"He won't mind. I bet he is very busy himself." Livy's thought went back to Rei and Miranda. So much for a respectful marriage offer.

Nana definitely sensed the tense mood. "Whatever it is, Livy, I trust Rei. I know he is a good man. Listen to what he has to say. Will you, dear?"

Olivia nodded. "Only if you allow me to take you to DelBer. You shouldn't go unassisted."

"Oh, dear. It's very kind of you, but it would be too much to ask. What of Rei? He would need you here." Nana hesitated.

"I will talk to him. I can't allow you to travel in this condition alone. I insist." Nana finally gave up to Olivia.

"Well, in that case, you must go to Rei early." Nana said.

"I will. As soon you go to sleep." Olivia didn't give up easily.

It was midnight when Livy went back to room, only to find Rei waiting for her.

"Livy, I can explain. There is nothing going on between Miranda and me. She is just... "

"I am going to DelBer." Livy cut short.

"What! What do you mean, going to DelBer?" Rei repeated.

"Nana has been having problems with her back. She needs to see the healer in DelBer. I am going to assist her." Livy braced herself for what was to come.

"Oh." Was the only word that left Rei's lips.

He sat still on his side of bed, deep in thoughts, for few minutes, which felt like an eternity for Livy. When finally he spoke, "Is it because of what happened today?"

"No." Livy wouldn't show it bothered her. It would only mean she cared.

Rei nodded. "Goodnight, Livy." Rei said, as he slid inside the sheets.
