Rei woke up to an empty bed. Livy had left the room early. Her side of the bed felt cold. He checked for the letter underneath her pillow, but it wasn't there either. Rei felt anxious at the thought of Livy reading it.
Rei had missed Livy. Last two days were the longest of his life. Especially with the way she left the house, made him feel unsettled.
Rei realized that although he loved Livy, he never expressed it. He had forgotten to understand that she was a human who did not feel the way a werewolf felt towards their mate. He had married her and brought her to an unknown place, and forced upon her a life she knew nothing about. It didn't helped that he had been busy since their wedding.
He wrote a letter to Livy expressing his desire to court her, like the human way. He asked her out on a date, and slipped it under her pillow before Livy and Nana were expected to arrive.
Rei checked for Livy as he made his way downstairs. He thought he would ask Nana, but was surprised at the sight of Livy baking in the kitchen. She was so engrossed in her work that she missed his arrival.
"Good morning." Rei said breaking her concentration.
A surprised Livy glanced up to see Rei standing outside the kitchen door. She stilled and fumbled around to find the right word, "Morning...Stand... I mean, sit. Please." Livy blushed at her embarrassment. She didn't know why she was acting like a teenage girl.
"Please sit. I was making some breakfast." She said after she got a grip on her nervous heart.
She laid down the plate of her baked cake and Rei's Buckwheat tea. Odd choice she thought, as she brewed herself some coffee.
They ate awkwardly as each tried to think of ways to break the silence.
"Have you seen the Mildew Park of the town?" Rei finally spoke up."I haven't been out in the town yet." said Olivia.
"I am sorry. I should have been more attentive. It was careless of me." Rei apologized. "If you don't mind, should we take a tour of the town?". Olivia nodded.
Nana had entered the house but quietly stayed behind the kitchen door, peeking at the couple enjoying their meal together. It lighted her heart to see them make tiny efforts. She smiled as she glanced one last time at Rei and Livy before starting her job.
Moon Pack wasn't a big town, but it was definitely a pretty and lively one, Livy thought as she and Rei made their way through the busiest part of town.
The market was filled with hustling sellers and buyers, bargaining banters and decorative shops. The place was lively and it brightened up Olivia's mood.
Rei walked beside her, explaining various facts. People or werewolves, as Olivia assumed, bowed on seeing Rei.As they were at the end of town, Olivia already felt she knew a lot about Rei and the Moon Pack. The pack was a far cry from the deserted and terror filled Old Creek. And Rei was not a powerful Alpha but he was a just one.
They made their last visit for the day to Mildew Park of Moon Pack. The popularity of the beautiful park was justified, Olivia felt. It was a heaven filled with flowers, against the backdrop of great green mountains.
They spent quite some time in the park, waiting to see the sun set down on the mountains, as they made little conversations.
The phone rang fervently in Rei's pocket. He excused himself to get it. Olivia noticed from a distance that he looked tensed as he talked on the phone.
"I am afraid we won't see sunset today. It's an emergency. Let's get you back home. I will be late." Rei said as he approached Olivia.
"I will go too."
"It's not safe, Livy." Rei was worried.
If Olivia had to know Rei, she might as well know all that came with him, even the dangers. "I am coming with you."
