Livy woke up feeling tired the next day. She could recall feeling hot but she wasn't burning anymore. She tried to shift on the bed, when she realized there was a huge arm pinning her. She managed to turn her head to follow the arm to find Rei lying next to her.
Images ran on her head but none could she remember. She wondered what had actually happened. She checked herself to find herself wrapped only in towel. Oh no... I couldn't possibly..., Olivia thought.
Livy hit Rei's arm and his chest, "What have you done, you monster?", waking Rei up.
Rei got up to Livy hitting him. He managed to grab her hands, "Stop it! I have done no such thing."
"What is this then?" Olivia said pointing to them lying on bed together. "I remember being in bathroom, not on bed with you. You've clearly taken advantage of the situation."
"I have not!" Rei explained, "You were burning yesterday because you were on heat. And as your mate, I helped you with the way I could."
"And that I suppose, is sleeping with me?" Olivia couldn't believe his lies.
Rei sighed. "No. Being in close proximity is what helps. If you worry about being touched inappropriately, then I assure you I have not done anything as such." With that, Rei left the room, leaving Livy astounded.
"... Touching inappropriately... Does he mean sex?" Olivia gasped.
Later that day, Olivia went to the kitchen to help Nana. Olivia had million of questions running on her head. She could ask Rei but he was nowhere to be found.
"Nana, what is heat?" Olivia questioned.
Hearing 'Heat' made Nana's eyes grow bigger, as she gave that look of understanding, followed with her giggles.
Nana cleared her throat and said,"Heat, dear, is what she-wolves feel when we desire our mate." Olivia was shocked. Desire for Rei?! No way! Nana was clearly wrong, She thought.
"Werewolves form bond with their mate through the mark shared by them after being bitten. The beautiful pattern on your neck is the mark given to you by Rei, thus forming your bond. After the bond is formed, she-wolves experience heat to consummate their bond. Heat are difficult times for women but with the help of their mate, the pain eases away.", Nana continued.
Olivia felt like a lightning struck her. She was dazzled. Everything was making sense to her. She did remember the wolf in the fields biting her neck, the bruise and then the burning on her neck yesterday.
"So, what can we do to avo.. I mean, help the heat?" Olivia asked.
"There is nothing much you can do dear, except to be near your mate. Only Rei can help you. Distances only make it worse. Desires only grow." Nana replied.
Oh great! Olivia groaned. She was not only married to a werewolf, but also she could never leave him. Rei definitely made sure he was keeping her around. This made Livy like a prisoner bounded to Rei. It angered her.
Olivia made sure to avoid Rei. She busied herself with helping Nana. But by nightfall, she could no longer avoid him.
It wasn't because she was expected to share his room, but the heat became painful with the time away from each other.
Olivia crept in bed and pretended to be asleep when Rei came in. She heard him rustle around in room for quite some time, and then he finally sat on bed. Olivia thought he would never sleep. When Rei finally lied down, Olivia slowly turned around to look for a familiar mark.
Livy did find one on Rei's nape . She leaned in closer to take a proper look at it, when she heard, "What are you doing, Livy?"
