After a few minutes drive from Mildew Park, Olivia and Rei had reached the borders of the Moon Pack. Some sturdy werewolves stood encircled near the tree. A curious Olivia followed behind Rei to where the pack of werewolves stood, but Rei turned around to stop her, "Stay inside the car." He looked serious about the situation and thus Olivia obeyed.

"Alpha, it's a human." One of the guy reported to Rei, showing him a woman lying against the tree with a baby around her arms.

"She was found by patrollers. She looked like she was on run. When they asked about her, all she said that she wanted to meet you, Alpha." Another added.

"Me? Did she say anything?" Rei asked confused. He had never seen this woman before.

"No, Alpha. She breathed last before she could saying anything more."

"What of the child?" Rei enquired, "Is it alive?"

"Yes, Alpha."

Rei was troubled. What could the woman had to tell him? Did she know him? The woman's feet look battered like she had been running for a while. What was she running from in such rough condition? And what of the child now? A human child couldn't be kept in a werewolf household. If King Marco came to hear of it, the fate of this child wouldn't be any less cruel than being left to devour by wild animals. With tension at rise between humans and werewolf, sheltering the child wasn't a good idea, Rei decided.

"Leave the child to the nearby human village. Take care of the lady." Rei ordered.

"Yes, Alpha." As a werewolf tried to pick the child from his mother's arms, he began to cry bringing attention.

Livy immediately got out of the car at the sound of the baby. She joined the gathering of men near the tree, to find them taking the baby from the mother's arm.

"What are you doing?" Olivia looked at the men doubtfully.

"Let's go back, Livy." Rei insisted, but Livy wouldn't incline. She wanted to know what plans they had for the mother and son.

"I will take care of the baby." Upon learning about the pitiful fate of the child, Livy decided to protect it. Poor child, he was alone in this world just like her, Olivia thought. And she couldn't guarantee the safety of the child with anyone there.

"Livy, the child is a human. We cannot keep him." Rei tried to make sense of the risk involved.

"So am I, Rei. A human."

Rei couldn't budge Olivia. He ordered his man, who stood watching the arguments between their Alpha and his mate, to hand over the child. They followed his order, but not without a second glance at their Alpha so as to make sure if he really was sure about the decision.

"Give it to her." Rei nodded reassuringly. He knew the child's fate was not with them. The child's stay would only make separation painful later for Livy.

And indeed, the news of a human in the household of werewolves spread like wildfire to other packs. The news was a fuel to the distaste between Men and Weres on other parts of the country. King Marco gave an ultimatum to the couple and also the protestant humans asked the child to be handed over. Rei too believed, it was best for the child to stay among humans but as he feared, Livy had grown fond of the baby. Nana and Livy took care of him day and night.

Olivia pleaded to Rei, "Can't you do something? You are an Alpha after all."

Rei sighed. "Livy, this child is a human and belongs to stay with them. When he grows up, he will need his community to teach him his ways. He has to go one day or another. The sooner, the better it is."

"Why do I get to stay here then?" Livy said through her tears, "I miss my life too."

At this, a hurt and furious Rei got up to leave the room, "The child leaves tomorrow. The least I can do is to let you give away the child."

The news of  mass migration of the surviving humans of  Old Creek were heard to be on move towards DelBer for refuge. The weary travelers had stopped by the borders of Moon Pack to camp for the night, seeking the protection of Alpha Rei Moon, who had been known far and wide as tolerant towards humans. Rei couldn't allow them inside the pack at the cost of upsetting King Marco, who was at the lead of battle against the humans. But he could at least provide them protection within his territory with his autonomous power.

A relative of the child was identified among the escapees of Old Creek and the child was decided to be returned to them. The mother of the child was found to be one such escapee from the war that had started at Old Creek and where humans had lost severely.

That evening, Livy bundled the baby in warm blankets as she made her way to the border where camps had been set up by humans. After she had met the relative of the child she hold dear, and having made sure their authenticity, she unwillingly handed over the child.

"Please take good care of him." She requested for the last time. The little time she had spent with the baby brought the maternal instincts within her. She felt no less than a true mother to the child she hadn't even given birth to.

Olivia turned around to leave with a heavy heart. With her weeping eyes bent towards the ground, she made her way past the refugees. She stopped on her way when a man emerged from the crowd and stood on her path. Olivia raised her head to the familiar sound of the man as he said, "Livy?"

"Danny!" Livy was shocked.
