Chapter 21
Misunderstanding Motives
Tenashiuta watched still as Sasuke's fight progressed. No one had confronted her about the match... yet. Perhaps working up the courage... or... her eyes widened as she came up with a new possibility. 'Are they plotting right now?' Her eyes slipped to see that they were simply focused more on Sasuke's fight. 'Odd...' she thought. 'Usually fear takes top priority.'
She payed little attention to the fight until she noticed Sasuke get slammed to the ground. She nearly leaned over the rail to check to see if he was okay, but she quickly stopped herself. 'He'd be disgusted, he'd think it was out of my place,' she convinced herself. She leaned back, closed her eyes, and began to sing softly.
"This world will never be
What I expected.
And if I don't belong,
Who would've guessed it?" she started in a soft voice, too soft to be heard. Her eyebrows pulled down slightly.
"I will not leave alone
Everything that I own
To make you feel like
It's not too late...
It's never too late." Her eyes suddenly shot open in internal pain.
"Even if I say,
"It'll be alright!"
Still I hear you say
You wanna end your life!
Now and again we try
To just stay alive!
Maybe we'll turn it all around,
'cause it's not too late!
It's never too late!" She could almost feel tears welling up. "It wasn't too late..." she whispered in a devastated and scared tone. She closed her eyes again and went on,
"No one will ever see
This side reflected.
And if there's something wrong...
Who would've guessed it?" It was true... they couldn't imagine anything in Tenashiuta's past not being sunshine, lollipops and rainbows. That's why she had a happy family and such power... right? That was what they thought...
"And I have left alone
Everything that I own
to make you feel like
It's not too late,
Its never too late..." For a split second, her eyes squeezed tight in pain.
"Even if I say,
"It'll be alright!"
Still i hear you say
You wanna end your life!
Now and again we try
To just stay alive!
Maybe we'll turn it all around
'cause its not too late!
Its never too late..." Another close tear invisibly slid down Ternashiuta's cheek. 'Not too late...'
"The world we knew won't come back.
The time we've lost, can't get it back!
The life we had wont be ours again..." by now, she was slightly louder, and Neji was turned to her. He had no idea what to think, choosing to stare at her with wide open eyes. She had just won that match with ease... and here she was singing... so beautifully... he realized he was staring and turned away with a slight blush nagging at his cheeks.
