Ashi-chan POV
Sakura, Tazuna and I were all walking through the town. People all around looked so... Poor and sad, it made me want to cry.
As we went into a store, I noticed that there was barely any food left, it was almost pathetic. With a newfound anger towards Gatou driving my steps, I began to leave Tazuna and Sakura behind.
A soft rustle caught my attention and I turned to see a man grabbing at Sakura's bag... Which just so happened to be on her bum. She turned slowly with a glint in her eyes, misunderstanding his motivations.
"PERVERT!" She yelled, kicking him away by his face. I winced. 'Ooh, that's gotta hurt.' I thought, seeing him scramble away holding one cheek.
As we were walking through the town more in the process of going home, I felt a small hand clutch at my skirt. I stopped and Sakura, noticing the rustle, got an irk mark on her head. However, when we turned around, it was a small girl.
She smiled widely and held out a hand. Realizing what she wanted, I pulled out several candies and placed them into her hand, along with an apple. She looked ecstatic and thanked me loudly with a leg-hug and ran away happily. What she didn't notice was the soft, sonic blue glow that the candies and apple were shedding.
How odd she'd find it that they never quite ran out.
---------------------------
I watched from the corner of my eyes as Naruto and Sasuke shoveled down as much food as possible in as little time as possible. At the same time, they both shoved up their plates, yelled "More please!", glared at eachother, and puked all over the floor.
I sighed in annoyance. 'Ugh, they really are idiots.' I thought as Sakura yelled at them.
"I have to get stronger." Sasuke said as he piled more food onto his plate and began to dig in.
"Me too, 'tebayo!" Naruto yelled and shoveled in food even faster.
In half of a second, I appeared behind them and whacked them both over their heads. "Don't eat any more." My voice was venomous.
"O-okay Ashi-chan! 'Tebayo!" Naruto exclaimed. "We'll stop, right Sasuke?" He elbowed Sasuke, who glared at him but agreed anyway. 'Heh. They're scared of me.'
There was a short, comfortable silence before Sakura pointed out, "Hey, there's a person torn out of that photo."
The silence was now tightly laced with awkwardness. Tazuna looked at her and slowly mumbled, "That was Inari's father, before Gatou came around." He admitted.
Inari stood up suddenly and raced out of the room.
I rolled my eyes, ignored the others, and ran after him, chasing him all the way into his room. He was sitting on the windowsill and crying.
(AN: In this Kakashi never had to talk to Inari because he never mentioned training.)
I slowly trotted up and gazed over the sea like he was. The light scintillated off of the water and made quite a beautiful sight. I pulled myself up and sat next to him.
"...You know," I started, "They really mean well. They don't mean to act all big and mighty, they just want to help you."
"What would they know about sorrow?!" Inari sobbed. "They're just a bunch of happy-go-lucky fools!"
"You're wrong."
Kakashi's POV
"You're wrong." Tenashiuta said. "Sasuke wittnessed his brother kill his entire clan. Naruto never had parents or a single friend before I came along. But I've never once seen him whine or cry. I think he's tired of tears."
Inari turned to her slowly. "...What about you?"
I caught my breath and turned to her as well. For several moments she was silent. Then she turned to him and...
Oh my Kami...
She smiled...
She reached out, took off his cap, and ruffled his hair. "You know what, Inari? I'll tell you someplace else."
I released my breath. 'Should have known.'
Inari's POV
The girl stood up and took a few steps, then stopped.
"Well?" She asked. "Are you coming?"
I quickly rose and ran after her, falling into pace by her side. Her face was peaceful as she led me up to the roof of the house. I wasn't exactly sure why I followed her, she just seemed trustworthy, somehow. I felt as if I could open up to her.
(AN: Angel powers...)
As we reached the roof, she turned to me and gave me a serious look. "What you see and hear today, you must promise not to tell a soul."
I nodded.
She nodded back and took three backwards steps and spread out her arms.
"What are you-" I started, but two giant white wings ripped out of her shirt and spread majestically. Blood dripped from them for a few second, coming from the gashes where they had ripped from her skin. Quickly, though, a blue glow replaced blood and they healed. I gaped at her and she smiled at me softly.
Before I knew it, she had scooped me up in her arms and was shooting upwards. I yelled in terror as we zoomed straight up until the house was a tiny dot. We shot through clouds and bits of water formed on us, then we shot up above the clouds.
I gasped for air and shook from the cold. Noticing, the girl waved her hand and a blue dome surrounded us. I could breath again and the temperature was very comfortable. She tapped it and a ripple on it's surface made it transparent.
I sucked in a breath of shock. The light reflecting off if the cloud caused beautiful little rainbows to dance around us. Clouds of white fluff swirled past.
"How...?"
"I'm an angel. My name is Tenashiuta." she answered. "My nickname is Ashi. You may call me that if you so wish."
I stared at her in awe.
"How did you become an angel?"
She paused. Her mouth opened and...
