Chapter 23
Revelation
Naruto had seen Tenashiuta look a large amount of things. She'd appeared intimidating often, calm mostly, sometimes happy and cheery. Always she was beautiful, sometimes despaired. The point is, Tenashiuta was a girl of many faces. She could appear as many different things, but, as long as Naruto had known her, weak was not one of those things.
Here, collapsed into the tangled bedsheets with sweat rolling off her forehead, she looked too fragile. She'd always had that appearance where you felt like you wanted to protect her, but she always looked quietly strong in her own way.
Yet this coma decided to piss all over that and said, 'Screw it, let's make her looks like a scared little girl.'
Her eyes were squeezed shut and she let out tiny whimpers of pain. Drop after drop of sweat rolled down her face. She seemed too weak to be Ashi-chan. There was no way this could be the same Ashi-chan who had beat up those nin earlier.
Naruto sat at her bedside, gazing down at her. "You're not hurt." he whispered, looking at her healed arms. "You're not sick. There's no reason for you to be out cold."
A single tear slid down his cheek and dripped off of his chin and onto her bedsheets. "Why won't you wake up then?" he whispered dejectedly.
Doragon watched from the doorway with sorrow in his eyes. This boy was removing an old sword embedded in Tenashiuta's heart, but he was reopening the wound by doing so. Doragon's eyebrows tilted down as he turned and strode away. Painful memories jumped into his head.
-<[Flashback]>-
He ran, not looking back. He could hear the people after him gaining on him. His legs ached and a gash sliced open his shoulder. He could recall when he first got here he was told it was heaven... But this felt more like hell.
Of coarse, he knew why. It was the 99th district, the district of murder. He had been meant for district 97. But he was here. It was amazing how a tiny slip up between writing a 9 and writing a 7 could endanger his life.
They caught up to him and one knocked him to the floor where he lay, motionless. Then they began to stab him over and over. He yelled in pain that seemed far too great. Each stab felt as if the knife was a white-hot chainsaw. He had felt the knife when he was alive, and it was far less painful then.
Just then, he could feel his life slip away and his heart stop beating with the immeasurable pain. All he could comprehend was his pain and the scream. It took him a while to even realize that it was him who was screaming.
Until someone grabbed him.
His head snapped up to see a streak of silver hair before he passed out.
When he woke up, he was in no more pain. He bolted up and clutched at the tattered, bloody remains of his shirt. How? He was sure...
"You can't die." an echoey lullaby of a voice reached his ears. His head jerked around to see a girl of 8 or 9 with beautiful silver hair and glowing golden eyes. Before he got a chance to ask anything of her odd statement, she turned and began walking away. It took him a second to comprehend due to her unnatural beauty.
"Wait!" he stopped her. "What's your name?"
She stopped, more of a pause than anything, then took a sideways glance at him. "Tenashiuta." she answered in a dead voice.
"Who exactly are you?" he breathed, looking at her with wide eyes.
She said nothing for a long time, just being silent. He was about to ask her once more when she answered, "Me? I'm nobody."
