~~Natalie's point of view~~

It's Monday. I love my job; I've never regretted getting up for work. I'm sitting at my desk, processing a loan application. I hear a knock at my door.

Natalie: "Come in."

The door opens, and it's Harvey. He's our human resource manager.

Natalie: "What can I do for you, Harvey?"

Harvey: "Luna Felton just filled out an application. I noticed that she went to the same school as you. Do you know her?"

Natalie: "I do."

Harvey: "Her resume is certainly impressive. What's your opinion of her?"

Natalie: "She would be fantastic for that position."

Harvey: "Is her background clear? Everyone that's applied lately has either failed the criminal check or the credit check."

Natalie: "As far as I know, she's never been in trouble. I don't think she'd have any credit issues. Her family has money."

Two of us that were born the same day grew up poor. Reeva and Charity.

Fannie, Reeva's mom, worked for my family. Charity's mom was fifteen when she had her. Her dad was only sixteen.

Harvey: "So, you think she would be a good fit?"

Natalie: "I do."

Harvey: "Do you have any problems with her?"

Natalie: "Not at all. She has a thing for my brother, which I find hilarious."

Harvey: "Would that be a problem?"

Natalie: "No. If she passes the background, offer her the job."

Harvey: "Awesome. Thanks, Natalie."

Natalie: "Not a problem."

He leaves.

I finish reviewing the loan application, and I deny it. It's was just too risky. That's the part of my job I do not like. I hate telling people no. The day goes by super-fast. As I'm walking out, I see a familiar face.

Natalie: "Devon?"

Devon: "Hey, Beautiful."

I instantly blush. He's always been good looking.

Natalie: "What are you doing here?"

Devon: "Luna told me you worked here. She refused to give me your number."

Natalie: "I have Facebook and Instagram."

Devon: "Neither of which you've been on for months. I saw this is where you worked, but I wasn't sure."

Natalie: "You found me. What's up?"

Devon: "I wanted to see if you wanted to hang out sometime. Maybe go to dinner or a movie."

If he would have asked me last week, I'd have been all over it. Now I just can't.

Natalie: "I can't, Devon."
