Chapter Twenty-Six-Make things right

~~Cherish's point of view~~

I immediately close the door.

River: "Cherish...."

Cherish: "I can't do this, River."

River: "Tell me why."

Cherish: "I can't let him hurt me again. I can't have him in my life and not have him."

River: "Is it because of who is?"

Cherish: "He's just Axel."

River: "He has a story Cherish. He's different."

Cherish: "I know. He told me he had secrets."

River: "Open the door, Cherish."

Cherish: "I can't."

River: "Do it for your baby. Devon, Damien, me, we will all be here. Your child deserves to know its father."

Cherish: "Who says he's the father?"

River: "Really Cherish?"

Cherish: "River..."

River: "If you love him, which I know you do. Open the door and listen to what the man has to say. I'll even let you beat me if things don't go right."

Cherish: "Fine."

River walks away. I open the door, and Axel was walking away.

Cherish: "Axel...."

He stops and turns; my heart hurts, I want him. For four months, I've tried pushing him out of my mind. Now he's standing in front of me. My heart is beating so hard in my chest...

Axel: "It's mine, isn't it?"

Cherish: "Yes."

He comes up to me, pulls me to him, and kisses me. I push him away.

Cherish: "You lied to me."

Axel: "No, I didn't."

Devon pulls up. He jumps out of the car.

Devon: "Are you ok, Cherish?"

Cherish: "I'm fine."

Devon: "Axel Dvorak?"

Cherish: "Yeah. Well, I guess. I know him as just Axel."

Devon: "How do you know him?"

I move my eyes to my stomach.

Devon: "Ohhhhh......"

Cherish: "Yeah."

Devon: "You two definitely need to talk. This is probably not the best place."

Cherish: "You think?"

Devon: "Go to your room."

Cherish: "No!"

Axel: "No!"
