Chapter 2 - What Dreams May Come

"Sleep in my room, ok?"

He thought he was hearing things. If it were some other girl, he'd think she was coming on to him. But this was Jia, the jigsaw puzzle he could never put together because of her mercurial moods. She'd be stand-offish, as though wanting to put as much distance between them as possible, then be all clingy acting like a girlfriend. He'd given up trying to figure her out. 

"You trust me that much?"

"Well....no but-" He laughed and playfully punched her jaw.

"Crazy, what's gotten into you today?" He hugged her briefly (too briefly) then set her apart from him.

"Seriously, Jia. I'm ok with the couch."

But she just hooked her arm around his and pulled him towards her room. Wordlessly, they lay on the bed, side by side, heads touching but bodies an inch away from each other. 

He wondered what was going on with her. She seemed restless since after the shoot.

"Is something bothering you?"

"No, why?"

"You seem different today." He yawned involuntarily.

"Sleep, Jeon. You need to rest."

He turned to face her. In the dark, the light from outside showed her heart-shaped face looking at him with a slight smile. He pressed a kiss against her forehead when she reached out to cup his jaw with her soft hand.

"Goodnight Jia."

"Goodnight Jeon."

He then turned away from her and was asleep in barely a minute.

Jia woke up spooned against him, his heavy arm flung over her body. She could feel his even breathing tickling her ear. She tried going back to sleep but him being so close was driving her crazy. She moved slowly to face him, not wanting to disturb his slumber.

Jeon was a heavy sleeper. She remembered the late nights doing their thesis in a hotel room they booked with classmates. He was impossible to wake up once he fell asleep. She was counting on that now, hoping he won't awaken or remember what she was about to do.

She was facing him now, admiring his face in the dim light. She ran her fingers through his wavy hair, pushing stray strands out of his face. He eased the slight frown on his forehead with her thumb, rubbing the pad of her thumb gently until the frown was gone. His lower lip slightly jutted out, making him seem like he was pouting. She repressed a giggle. Damn, he was such a baby and so hot at the same time. 

Unable to stop herself, she pressed her lips against his, just a few seconds, afraid he would wake up.

Soft.

Full.

Damn.

She wanted more. She kissed him again. And again, this time slightly sucking his lower lip. His arm suddenly pulled her to him closer, and his mouth kissed her back. Her hands were on his chest, carefully holding him back but not pushing because she was so careful of not waking him. But what if he was actually awake and aware that he was kissing her back?

Fuck.

I'm in trouble.

I want this though.

How can I stop?

She stopped moving and closed her eyes, pretending to be asleep. His lips were still on hers for a while, and then they were gone. But his other arm went under her nape to cradle her snugly to him.

Warm in the cocoon of his embrace, she finally fell asleep, this time for real.

Jeon

Jeon was dreaming of being kissed. He dreamed that he and Jia were both in bed, and she was leaning towards him, touching his lips with hers. Too quickly, her lips left his. But even before he could protest, he is being kissed again, her lips staying longer.

His arm reached out to hold her closer. He deepened the kiss, feeling her body fused to his. Suddenly, he realized it wasn't a dream, he really was kissing her and she had her hands on his chest. Was she pushing him away?

Shit.

Did he start this because of his dream?

Slowly, he loosened his hold on her and felt her snuggling closer to hm, her head nestled against his neck. His other arm lifted to cradle her head and give her a more comfortable position lying close against him.

With his arms around her, he fell back to sleep.
