FOURTEEN: No Clue

Ire's pov

"What?!"

"Yes, I saw her walking to your mother's room, she didn't know I was following her when she took the necklace" The usher said.

"That's not true, I can do such thing" Ada argued.

"Yes Adaeze can't do it" Stella added.

"I let go of mom and went to meet her.

"Well we can find out the truth by checking your purse" The ushers said.

"Yes check the purse" Adaeze hands the purse to the usher.

The usher unlock the purse and brought out the necklace. I was beyond shocked!

"What! You thief" My mom screamed as she started walking towards us. I knew her next action would be to slap Adaeze. I held her hands just in time.

"Leave me alone ire" She said as she struggled out of my grip.

"I didn't steal it" Adaeze sobbed.

"I would check the cctv cameras in the house, Damola please help me do that " I said.

I turned to the guests.

"Please forger about the commotion, the party will continue and this would be settled" I said.

"Ire let me go, this little thief have to be taught a lesson" Mom said still struggling.

"Mom, please keep quiet we would check the cameras".

"Please come into the building" I said to Stella and Adaeze.

"Here is the video" The security man said to me. I looked at the screen of the computer and saw a lady walking towards mom room. Immediately she entered the camera turned blank, the lady must have tempered with the cameras.

"The cameras were tempered with sir" One of my men said.

"And where were you all when all these was going in" I growled "I pay you all well and thus is how you do your job?"

"We are sorry sir, we were told something was going on outside and we all left and........"

"All of you?" I asked still angry.

"We are sorry sir" The head of security said.

"Leave now, all of you except Stella ana Adaeze" I said calmly.

They all left. Adaeze had stopped crying, I hand her an handkerchief to wipe her face.

"Thanks" She muttered.

"I know you didn't do it, but I will find the person and deal with him or her"

"Emm, ire can I take Adaeze home?" Stella asked.

"Yeah, if that will make her feel better"

I hope the criminal would be caught soon. Damola enters.

"Damola where is that usher?" I asked.

"She left, I wanted to ask her questions but people said they saw i leaving" He answered.

"No offence, but I think I have a suspect in this matter " Stella states.

"Who?"

"That Sekemi girl" She replied.

I and damola looked at each other. That can be true, Sekemi is psycho and she's capable of hurting Adaeze.  I have to get someone to watch every of her movement.

Ever since the party ended, mom has been disturbing my life. She refused to...

"And you let her go" She yelled. Why does she think I would call the cops on Adaeze when there's no evident. Even if there's one, I would rather forgive her.

"Mom she didn't do it" I said annoyed.

"Shut up" She paused and glared at me "Ire,  I have been watching you and can see clearly that you like this girl but I won't allow a relationship between my son and a thief"

"Mom!, watch what you say" I yelled. "I know for sure she didn't do it, and I also know that Sekemi is capable of doing such"

"Adedamire, the fact that Sekemi left you doesn't mean she is bad" She replied raising her voice. How I wish dad is here, he is the one that can handle her.

"Answer me Ire,  how long have you known this girl that you think she can't do such?" She asked folding her hands.

"I might have known Adaeze for a little period of time but I know she can't do such. Mom this talk is over" I said and walked out of the room.

My phone rings as I step into my room. It's dad.

"Hey dad"

"Hi son, how are you?" He asked. I can hear music playing in the background, guess his work is done.

"Fine, you?"

"Good, I heard what happened at your mom birthday"

"Yeah, but it had been settled"

He laughs.

"Son, I know your mother won't drop the issue quickly, especially when the great Mrs Adeleke party was ruined" He said drawing the great.

"Yeah, when are you and bro coming back?"

"Soon, we are done with most of the work" I let out a breath I never knew I was holding.

"Is teniola there?" He asked.

"No, she has dp gone back to school"

"Ok, goodnight son"

"Good night" I hang up and jumped on my bed. What a long day.
