"She told me to marry you Aria. Her last word was your name! Not 'I love you' or anything like that. She stuttered, but it was quite obvious that she told me to marry you, Aria!"
"I'm still not seeing what this has to do with you cheating on me..."
"I flipped, okay? I'm not ready to get married or have kids or any of that shit. I don't even go go college! I have a steady job but it's not enough to support more than one person." He pulled on his hair, pacing back and forth.
"I tried to distance myself! I wanted to continue my life. I didn't want to calm down and live like an adult! I want to be a teenager until I'm thirty. I'm just not ready."
"I tried getting out of here. I tried going to the beach, but everything reminded me of you! The color of the sea is your favorite color, the sand; the color of your skin, the sea gulls; the color of the lace bathing suit you always wore. Everywhere I turned, there was another sign of you!"
"And then, I realized something else!Marriage is giving everything to you. There's no more messing around or anything like that. Marriage is fucking serious!" He yelled.
"So I got stressed, okay? And I didn't want to make you upset, or take my anger out on anybody I knew, so I took it out on Scarlett. It only happened twice. She meant nothing to me, which is why I did it! So then after that I felt like a failure, and I locked myself in this house by myself. I was ashamed to talk to you, Aria. I distanced myself from you because I was afraid you would break it off."
"Well distancing yourself didn't work. After months of loneliness, I've decided it's time to give up on you." I looked at him, then stared back at the wooden porch.
"Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Call me crazy, but I still have hope that this relationship could still work." he looked at me weakly.
"You need trust in a relationship, Harry. It's not always all lovey-dovey. You have to be able to rely on the other person."
"Aria, I made a mistake! I know that you're not over this relationship. I know you still have feelings."
"Yes, but what you don't know is that one day I will wake up, and I won't hurt anymore. And until then, I'll lay in bed, praying it will come faster."
"This is not what my mother of wanted," he looked at me, sighing.
I chuckled.
"And you think your mother would've wanted you to cheat on me?"
"No, but-"
"Harry, I'm done. I'm terribly sorry about your mother. Who knows, maybe she said to marry Scarlett, and you just heard Aria for some strange reason instead," I scoffed, walking off his porch and back over to my house.
