HARRY POV
I walked out the door, slamming it behind me. Muttering various profanities under my breath, I got into my car. My hands were fidgeting, making it hard for me to get the key into the ignition.
When I finally did, I put the car in reverse, backed out of Lou's driveway, and sped off to the place I knew Lux would be. I tried to be as cautious as possible, but it's hard to do that when you're going forty miles over the speed limit. Every red light would seem like a green light to me, every stop sign like it wasn't even there. I had to save Lux.
It only took five minutes to get to my destination, taking multiple back roads and speeding. Hell, the place I was trying to get to was on a back road.
I slowed down as I reached the house, trying to take it all in. The roof was slowly caving in, I could see the door rotting from all the way from in my car.
When I was driving to the store before I went to Aria's, I took the backroads to see if it was quicker, since there was traffic on the main roads anyway. I saw someone walk into this house as I passed it, a man looking about 50, with a walking tiny little body with pigtails.
That body was Lux.
I guess I didn't process the fact that there was a 50 year old man with a 2 year old girl. I also didn't see the girl's face, so I'm not 100% positive that Lux is in there. It's more like 99%, which is the best I can do.
I needed a plan of action, or I, and more importantly Lux, could get killed.
Screw a plan of action. I'm going to go in there, take Lux, and make sure to fuck shit up on the way out.
Yeah, that plan sounds really assuring.
I stepped out of the car, being alert of any sounds that could give away that someone was watching me. Looking around, I started to walk onto the front porch.
I stepped on the first front step of the decaying wooden porch. It creaked under the weight of my feet.
"Fuck" I muttered. I was trying to be as quiet as possible, and these steps were not helping.
I stepped onto the porch, it continuing to creak. I was finally inside the house, looking around. It was empty, the floorboards uneven and the wallpaper acting like flower petals as it wilted off the walls. It looked like a haunted house in a movie, but this was no movie. This was life.
I went to my left first, deciding to announce myself.
"Lux!" I yelled.
I could've sworn I heard something, a faint voice, but it was quickly cut off before I could actually tell who was talking.
I then heard footsteps, the creaking of the floor giving it away. I looked over in the direction of the footsteps as the sound became louder.
Before I could see the owner of the footsteps, he spoke.
"I'm going to give you five fucking seconds to run, and forget you ever came here."
"Or?" I say, him coming into view. His hair was starting to grey, and he had bags under his eyes among many other wrinkles.
"Or I could kill you, and the girl."
"I just want Lux. Give me Lux, and I'll leave."
"I just want you to leave," he says, with a crooked grin on his face. He pulls out a gun, holding it towards me. Being only about ten feet away, I would never be able to dodge the bullet.
"Bad choice," I said.
I lunged forward, twisting the arm with the gun around, so that it was pointing at his foot. Holding that arm with my left arm, I punched him with my right arm in the nose, breaking it easily. The flood started to leak onto my hands, only making me want to kill this bastard even more.
I knocked him down to the ground, him dropping the gun and it sliding on the wooden floor about twenty feet away. I kicked him in the side twice before walking over, and grabbing the gun. I shot him in the leg. I didn't want to kill him, I just needed him to stay still while I called the cops- which is exactly what I did.
After the call, I kicked the man in the side one more time.
"Stay here," I said, as I walked away to go find Lux.
I walked up the stairs and kicked open the first door, with the gun in my hand in case the man got any ideas while he was gone. The police were on their way anyway, and it's not like he could've walked.
I checked the closet of the room, calling out to Lux as I went.
I entered the second room, immediately going to the closet, and there she was. She sat in the corner of the closet with duct tape over her mouth and a zip tie around her frail little arms. She was sleeping, but I was sure she was alive.
I woke her up, and in her eyes I could see fear. I slowly peeled the duct tape off of her mouth, trying my best not to hurt her. She whimpered at the pain, but I knew that if I wouldn't have saved her, she would have been in much worse pain. The thought of that made my stomach twist, and I shook my head to try to get the image out of it.
I pulled the zip tie off, and picked Lux off the ground. She wrapped her arms around my neck, hugging me.
The police had understood that I had to take Lux home, and said that I could go in for questioning at a later date. I thanked them and put Lux in the backseat of my car.
ARIA POV
Harry had been gone for an hour now, and I was worried sick. He said that he saw her, but what did that have to do with leaving right now.
Lou, Tom, and I were in their room sitting on the bed, just talking. Trying to get our mind off of Lux and Harry was impossible, but we all tried to hide our struggle. Lou and Tom had cried all of their tears, but their voices still cracked when they talked.
The door handle shook a little before opening, and Harry walked in. I ran over and gave him a hug, and he picked me up and spun me around, laughing.
"Why are you so happy?" I asked, him setting me down.
At that very moment, Lux walked in, a pacifier in her mouth as she ran to her mother. Lou broke out in tears immediately as she engulfed Lux in a hug. Tom walked over and joined the hug, and it was a beautiful moment in their family.
"Oh my God, Lux. I missed you so much," Lou cried, her words barely audible. Harry and I stepped out to let the family enjoy their moment alone.
"What happened?"
"Don't worry about it. All that matters is that she's here."
"Thank you, Harry. For everything. For the breakfast and cleaning my house and all the other things you do."
He didn't answer, but instead kissed me.
