SOTC- Chains • Nick Jonas (CAN WE TALK ABOUT HIS COMEBACK LIKE OMG LAST TIME I SAW HIM I WAS JAMMING TO JONAS BROTHERS)

"Hello?" The sound of my mothers voice practically whispered through the low quality speaker of my iPhone. I turned the volume up and pressed the speaker button before speaking.

"Hi, mother," I replied.

"Oh Aria, it's you dear."

I rolled my eyes, fortunately she couldn't see me. She knew I was the one calling because of the caller ID, yet she still had to sound uptight when she spoke to her daughter.

"We have some exciting news," Harry said, smiling as he leaned towards the phone to talk.

"We're engaged!" He grinned.

There was a silence on the phone for a while, only hearing the background noise from wherever mother was.

"To be married?" She asked, almost as if she was disappointed.

"Yes, mother, that's usually what happens when you get engaged," I replied, sighing.

"And you're telling me this over the phone?"

"Moth-"

"Well I guess you just couldn't fit me in your schedule to tell me that you were getting married! You had to call me instead of coming over and sitting down and telling it to me to my face."

"But-"

"Aria, I will not be attending."

"Mother, all because we told you over the phone?"

"Yes, Aria."

"Mother-"

She cut me off again, causing me to scoff as I listened to her words.

"Now when I was a young lady, I-"

I hung up, slamming my phone down on the counter. Harry looked at me with sympathy, his eyes doing the speaking instead of his mouth. A text appeared on my phone, me grabbing it off the counter and reading it.

Louis- So you're getting married, huh?

I showed my phone to Harry, him chuckling a little, as if to find humor in his text.

"What should I say?"

"I don't know, it's up to you, fiancé," he kissed my cheek, smirking and walking out of the kitchen.

"Wait, Harry!" I called as he started walking up the stairs.

"Yeah, babe?"

"Can we invite him?"

"What?"

"To the wedding. Can we invite Louis?" I said slower.

He stood there in thought for a moment, debating his answer. I didn't know what to expect, but he interrupted my wonders by answering.

"As long as you're happy, I don't care who else you invite," he smiled, nodding at being content with his answer as he turned back around and walked up the stairs.

I grinned to myself as I looked at my phone in my hands, thinking of what to say.

Me- Yeah, got engaged just a couple minutes ago, actually. How'd you know?

Louis- Ari posted a pic of your ring that you supposedly texted to her.

I frowned, almost angry at first. Couldn't she keep a secret? Glad I was able to speak to my mother before she saw it on Instagram.

Me- Do you want to come over? I miss you.

Louis- Aria, you just got engaged. I don't think that's a really good idea.

Me- Harry's here too, and I just wanted to hang out as friends.

Louis- Aright, yeah. I'll be there in fifteen.

Me- Hours?

Louis- //Haha, very funny.//

*Week later*

The doorbell rang, my eyes shooting open. The light peeking through the burgundy curtains slightly blinding me as my eyes adjusted. I took in my surroundings, blinking slowly a few times to focus my eyes, as if they were a camera. Laying on my side, I craned my neck in the other direction to see Harry asleep next to me, his arm loose around the skin above my hip.

I turned back over, ignoring the doorbell and letting my head sink into the pillow. I started to drift back asleep when the doorbell rang again, two times, as if someone were pretending the doorbell were a mousepad and they were double- clicking.

I felt Harry's warm breath on my neck as he talked.

"Baby, can you get that?" He mumbled, my heart fluttering at the way the name he called me rolled of his lips. I couldn't see him say it, but even imagining it made me want to escape into another blissful dream about him.

"Sure," I replied, slowly lifting his arm off of me and sitting up. I adjusted his long hair on his forehead, a small smile placed on his face, disappearing as quickly as it came. I let out a sigh, arching my back as I lifted my arms above my head.

One bare foot was placed after another on the hardwood flooring, as I stood up and walked out of the bedroom, reaching the stairs as I trekked down them.

I pulled a piece of my hair that had somehow landed in my mouth, yawning in the process. I glanced out the wall clock in the sitting room as I passed by it, squinting a little to see the numbers. It read 9:30, making me groan as I realized I would have to be up soon anyways to go to class.

I opened one of the double doors, my mother standing there with her perfect hair and dress, glaring at me.

"What on earth took you so long?" She asked, looking me up and down with a look of disapproval upon her face.

"Well, Mother, I wasn't expecting anyone at this hour," I replied, silently screaming at myself for opening the door without checking who it was.

"Well, are you going to invite me in, or..."

"Come in, mother," I sighed, opening the door wider as one of her ruby high heels clicked with the hardwood, along with another. She quickly walked to the couch, sitting down and placing her hands on her lap as if this were some sort of posture contest.

"We have so much to talk about dear," she smiled one of her signature smiles. It was one that wasn't actually sincere, but instead one showing her dominance in the conversation. I sat down next to her, leaning my back into the leather cushions as mother rolled her eyes and mumbled something under her breath.
