The day was February 4th and that was the day of the competition that was going to be held in Highland, Michigan, Maddie and Chloe had solos, there were two trios, one had Brooke, Chloe and Maddie and the other had Nia, Paige and Mackenzie and there was the group dance like usual and during rehearsals, Nia hurt her ankle by spraining it and she couldn't do her special moves until she was 100%. The time was 3:30 am and Abby was in her bedroom, then she heard a groan coming from her son's bedroom and it woke her up as she had a feeling something wasn't right. She got up and headed upstairs to the bathroom that was connected to her son's bedroom and saw that Dominic was at the toilet, looking pale in the face, holding on to his abdomen and was sweating which meant that he had thrown up.
"Domino, are you all right?!" Abby asked worriedly.
"Mom..." Dominic groaned. "I was fast asleep and next thing i knew, i feel this dull pain that made me wake up and then it became a sharp pain, which in turn caused me to race to the bathroom where i threw up."
Abby headed to her son and touched his forehead and she could feel that it was hot, which signaled that he had a fever, which made the alarms ring in her head as Maryen came in to see what was happening and when she saw her grandson looking sick, she was worried.
"Dom, what's wrong?" Maryen asked.
"Grandma, i was asleep and then from out of nowhere, i woke up because of a dull pain that turned into a sharp pain in my abdomen, which caused me to head to the bathroom and throw up."
"I've seen this happen before and i might not be a doctor or anything, but i think those are the signs of Appendicitis."
"That's likely. I remember one dancer had the same thing during a rehearsal two years before i adopted Dominic." Abby stated, then she turned to her son. "Domino, i'm gonna take you to the hospital to find out if you do have an Appendicitis. If it is, you did a great job informing me that it just began."
"Ok." Dominic said.
"Mom, i'll keep you updated."
"All right."
Abby put on her outfit that she usually wore to a competition and she put a jacket and shoes on Dominic, she gently wrapped an arm around her 15 year old son and she walked him to the door, took an elevator to the lobby, went into the parking garage and placed him on the front seat, then she started driving and exited the parking garage, made a left on North Water Street, made a right on McClurg, made a left on Ontario, made a right on Fairbanks and made another right on Erie and there, Abby turned right into the Erie/Ontario self parking garage and found a parking spot on the second level, then she took Dominic out of the vehicle and walked him across the bridge and approached the receptionist desk.
"Around 3:30 this morning, my son Dominic threw up and he let me know he felt a dull pain in his abdomen which became a sharp pain." Abby explained and then the receptionist called a doctor and approaching was Dr. Lauren Harrison, the Miller family doctor who had been their doctor since Abby had adopted Dominic at birth and a week after Abby adopted him, Dr. Harrison was moved from Rush Hospital to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Abby helped the doctors put her son on the gurney and with that, Dominic was wheeled to the examination room and minutes later, Dr. Harrison came from the examination room.
"Ms. Miller, after completing the tests, we can confirm that indeed your son has appendicitis and since he let you know after feeling the first sign, we'll be able to get his appendix out before it can burst, meaning he caught it early and Dominic informed me he wants his surgery done laparoscopically. His surgery will be on the 5th floor."
"I'll be heading to the 5th floor and sit in the waiting room." Abby informed.
"All right." Dr. Harrison headed to the elevator and headed to the 5th floor, then minutes later, Abby walked to the elevator and headed to that floor.
